Noted in his stats 5 spoils in his second WAFL game - have to be somewhat physical to pick up that many

4. DANIEL CURTIN (Adelaide)
Curtin effortlessly made the step from Colts to WAFL seniors and at 95kg it would surprise if he doesn’t debut in round 1.
The Crows believe Mitch Hinge (190cm) and Josh Worrell (195cm) will play as mid-sized backs alongside Jordon Butts but there is clearly room for Curtin’s gifts as an intercepting tall.
At the very least he will get involved in rebound 50s with his piercing left foot and canny knack of racking up possessions.
Don’t underestimate how elite he is with his disposal.
Consider his disposal efficiency in his first senior WAFL games – 82.3 per cent.
Said one recruiter: “I can see him playing a lot. He’s big, he’s played senior footy. He is in the biggest area of need for the Crows. They have Murray and Butts so it’s just a matter of how quickly he goes past them.”

SUPERCOACH CERTAINTY? 10/10 – He will play every week, he is a glorious kick, he might even sneak in some kick-outs and consider his established form – in four under-18 national championships games he averaged 137 ranking points with 23 disposals and 4.5 tackles.

I don't feel any particular animosity towards Dangerfield (now - was a bit pissed at the time)

I do feel animosity towards our list management at the time for rolling over for a tummy rub during negotiations

FMD - Wells mentioned in an interview a few years later they would've paid up another 1st rounder if pushed

Yeah agree cant hate Danger as tried his guts out for the club. He was B&F the year he left us. Just painful knowing he was our best ever castaway made worse winning the Brownlow the next year. Leaving after Walsh death was hard also but that may have helped make his decision to start afresh.

Re Wells comments though..not sure how they would have done this when on the first day of trading they traded away one of the possible 2 first rounders available (next years) to Blues for Henderson. Not sure how they expected to give us a second first rounder in this situation but anyway hopefully they have a few lean years coming up before the benefactors open their wallets again

agree, perfect role model in terms of highly motivated, right lifestyle (eating well/recovery/doing extra sessions etc), positive, happy outgoing social bloke. Couldn't think of a better player actually as he is a ripper guy.

The fact he may not be a top 22 player in a couple of years from now is irrelevant

Alternatively, by moving around alot, he may have learnt to not get connected with friends, and has formed a tighter bond with his family, would suggest homesick issues would be a greater problem here.

Could be right but i think it largely depends on his age when moving. My oldest child lived in 3 countries when young (under 5) but cant really remember any of it in any meaningful manner. Once kids get to school age often families seem to settle down (we did anyway) to ensure kids are settled with schooling, friends etc

* me, when does the season start …

3 months off after our last game before pre-season training starts. this seems to be getting longer and longer EVERY year. Now only 3-4 weeks of training before another week or 2 off over XMAS/NY with then really only 2 months before the first game. Players seem to be getting a lot more time away from the club at the same time salary cap explodes. Clearly they (overall) are keeping themself in good knick however during this time so self motivation is key

what gun player/s have we lost in recent years? Previously it was definitely an issue but Nicks has materially improved the culture and we are seeing young elite players re-sign for multiple years like we have NEVER seen before.

Clearly we didnt want Doedee - right call by the club. McAdam at 29 who has played 50 ish games in an injury interrupted career ,dogged by lack of motivation various pre-seasons, I am assuming you arent counting here? Yes he can be useful and has a good highlights reel but his age, injuries and even the fact we win more often when he didnt play make him an extremely marginal loss from a big picture perspective.
