Time to break the curse! No 6, Vale Dan Curtin, career over before it started![]()
Him and Rachele, taken pick 6.It's bad luck to be superstitious, but I was hoping we'd retire number 6. Perhaps the Keays point broke the curse, everything has gone well since then.
I think 6 will look good on the lad.

how many of those guys are coached by Matthew Nicks? My understanding is that Nicks has a couple of non-negotiables, physically influencing contests sits atop the list.
Him and Rachele, taken pick 6.
Maybe, the curse is broken after 6 years out of Finals after losing the 2017 GF by 48 points. Divisible by 6.

Yeah agree cant hate Danger as tried his guts out for the club. He was B&F the year he left us. Just painful knowing he was our best ever castaway made worse winning the Brownlow the next year. Leaving after Walsh death was hard also but that may have helped make his decision to start afresh.I don't feel any particular animosity towards Dangerfield (now - was a bit pissed at the time)
I do feel animosity towards our list management at the time for rolling over for a tummy rub during negotiations
FMD - Wells mentioned in an interview a few years later they would've paid up another 1st rounder if pushed
agree, perfect role model in terms of highly motivated, right lifestyle (eating well/recovery/doing extra sessions etc), positive, happy outgoing social bloke. Couldn't think of a better player actually as he is a ripper guy.Ben Keays is a ripper bloke who moved from his home state and ground out a very admirable afl career
And best of all has a massive passion for the club that took a 2nd chance on him
He’s also in leadership group so the perfect type of bloke to be there to greet
That doesn't always end well.Curtin will be a gun. He's the chosen one.
Could be right but i think it largely depends on his age when moving. My oldest child lived in 3 countries when young (under 5) but cant really remember any of it in any meaningful manner. Once kids get to school age often families seem to settle down (we did anyway) to ensure kids are settled with schooling, friends etcAlternatively, by moving around alot, he may have learnt to not get connected with friends, and has formed a tighter bond with his family, would suggest homesick issues would be a greater problem here.
Give the negatives a rest. The bloke hasn't so much as trained with us yet and you have him on the 1st possible plane to WA.

Shane McAdam? We really haven't any players leave the club we wanted to keep in a long time. Testament to the modern culture of the club.
Not sure why people think he will go.
Shane McAdam?
He should have then. good player.Wanted to stay by all reports.
3 months off after our last game before pre-season training starts. this seems to be getting longer and longer EVERY year. Now only 3-4 weeks of training before another week or 2 off over XMAS/NY with then really only 2 months before the first game. Players seem to be getting a lot more time away from the club at the same time salary cap explodes. Clearly they (overall) are keeping themself in good knick however during this time so self motivation is key* me, when does the season start …
they immediately took it off the table and traded that to Blues for Henderson. Not sure where Wells is thinking he would have given us 2 x first rounders..accepting a mid first and mid second for Danger was on Noble, Cats had a future first as well.

what gun player/s have we lost in recent years? Previously it was definitely an issue but Nicks has materially improved the culture and we are seeing young elite players re-sign for multiple years like we have NEVER seen before.Didn't realise that we haven't offered a contract to any of the players that have left the club in the last 4 years.

Re Wells comments though..not sure how they would have done this when on the first day of trading they traded away one of the possible 2 first rounders available (next years) to Blues for Henderson. Not sure how they expected to give us a second first rounder in this situation but anyway hopefully they have a few lean years coming up before the benefactors open their wallets again
