200cm and 100kg. Yeah he's a massive kid. I see he has also kicked bags of 8 and 5 this year.

I'm not against looking at a KPF, we are well stocked in the AFL side, but with Turray injured we do look a little light on talls in the SANFL.

Can't say I've watched any of him yet, but I'll certainly keep an eye out come the championships.

Dunno if I'm for drafting a key tall with our first round pick for the SANFL team.

Disagree

He will be a a guy that can float to wherever we need him like a Dawson IMO

I would use him midfield ( including wing ) and forward though , a bit wasted in defence for mine
Both Curtin & Dawson should be used as spares in defence when the opposition have a run on we need to stem.

Feel like it will click soon with his teammates to get it to him on the wing, even in a 1v1, as he will be in constant mismatches vs smaller opponents. Just have to keep building that trust.
Would like us to aim for him more with kickouts where he has a height mismatch.

I actually think it's not bad timing for us to draft another KPF to develop. It's a strength of ours now, but considering the historical length of time it takes talls to develop, using a mid to late 1st this year on a high upside KPF, yeah I'd be fine with it.

Not saying it's this kid or bust. Just a position I'd like to address sooner rather then later, and preferably through the draft.

So glad to see that we're playing him further up the ground, looks good playing on the wing, got a bit lost at times playing forward, especially given our mids look for TT / Fog / Tex preferentially. Marking and movement are progressing nicely, I hope we are trying to sign him to a longer contract soon as he could be anything

Actually still think Curtin could be an excellent defender. Similar to Dawson he's very versatile and could probably play most roles, but would love his ability in the air and his ball use behind the ball.

That said, he's been good off the wing the last few games and we don't have a lot of options in that role, so he should stay there the rest of the season.

I agree.

Mark Bickley called him more a loper than a runner and I tend to agree. He is quick for his size but you can see when the ball is in dispute others run past him.

He has a big future but he won't be a midfielder or wingman long term.
I reckon many wingmen are lopers - he seems to go pretty well, but am concerned he hasn't signed and still has a WA girlfriend

I disagree, it's awful timing to bring in another high end prospect. The two big reasons for this is the league is moving away from the three tall model - the need to stop the opposition ball movement game is a big reason in this space - and that both our key forwards likely have 8+ years left in them.

The only reason you'd consider a top-end prospect (without them being F/S, NGA or you hit the jackpot on a late draft pick*) is you are not convinced Fogarty is your guy moving forward. There really isn't a reason we should be thinking that. Otherwise, it's a 2028-2029 problem when Fog is ~ 4 years out from retirement.

When Tassie pillage the entire draft ??

Its not a silly idea to grab one this year or next, probably next as I dont reckon we'll have our first rounder this year.

Better then than now. 2025-2026 and all you are doing is throwing a first round pick into the bin. One that could be used to strengthen actual needs, hello inside midfield and half back flank.

Different story late in the draft, as a late flutter for a KPF is somewhat worth it, but not something I'd personally worry about unless Hamish truly loved a prospect.

Agree with your list priorities. I'd add a small forward and a ROB replacement (he's adequate but may not stay) but they're not as glaring.

I understand and kind of share the anxieties of others about a lack of quality KPF depth (beyond Toby Murray) but it's not a high-enough priority at the moment. By all means, take a swing at a speculative sort with one of our later picks in this year's draft but we've already used premium capital on tall forwards.

To bring the conversation back on topic, Curtin might end up playing a wing/fwd role (ala Dempsey at Geelong) after Walker's retirement, anyway.
