Apparently not. Almost half of his possessions come from marks, which is pretty high.

Don't get me wrong, I would most definetly take a punt on Motlop. However, I wouldn't trade Watts for Motlop.

You'd be stupid to. They're both marking targets, but Motlop is shorter, older and more injury prone...why trade down?

Do you think the Kangas would go for that? I don't think they would trade a gun for a "maybe" gun. But KPP are hard to come by and Watts looks like the goods. You would be p1ssed if he left after only two years and a lot of investment wasted.

Your nit picking on this subject when another poster has said what actually happened is one of the sadder things i've seen, you just cant let it go can you.

And the top 20 of the 2002 draft is quite good crow-mosome, esp the top 10, certainly no judd players there rarely is though and most are still developing, but there is alot of quality there, problem is we didnt have a pick in there did we. We traded on a high pick like we always have and now we pay for it, thats the problem with it. If adelaide had their time again we would of paid much less for carey.


One thing that isnt deniable, is that there is zero doubt that the club took its eye off the ball in relation to bringing through any talented youngsters. We had a very high pick which sure it wasnt getting wells or goddard, but it had an opportunity to get some elite talent that we hadnt had on our list for a number of yrs and we were ******** weak on the trade table once again. We traded it and we are in the situation we are today. I am sort of glad though, cause we needed something like that to highlight our poor trading imparticular. Its no coincedence the club has been very careful with its picks since.

We didn't have a pick, we had Kane Johnson - we through traded the proceeds as always our intention. once again, stop conveniently ignoring Richmond's role in this. They were as aggrieved as we were on the situation. But that doesn't suit you though does it?

He's injury prone and inconsistent. Too bigger risk to spend a first or second round pick on.

Scott Thompson was not inconsistent. He is a pretty consistent footballer who had impact injuries more sore than "wear and tear" and soft tissue injuries. Scotty was also younger at the time.

I am all for getting Motlop but we have to be careful in what we are prepared to give up for him.

No there are signs we must be wary of - he is not settled and his unrest has been going on for a couple of years - His brother fell away and there's every chance the same yould happen here

And thats why I am not prepared to give up a lot for him.

Take a punt on him but at a reasonable price. If we minimize the risk, then player like Motlop is worth the risk.

I don't disagree.

There will be some clubs out there that are prepared to pay more than we are which is fine by me. All I am saying is I would have a set price and if we can't get him for that pirce then I walk away from the table.

Thommo was leading the Dees B&F (or thereabouts) prior to his injury in 2004. Both players were injury-prone, but Scotty has been (more) consistent when playing.

I don't think we will figure in Motlop's calculations though, as he has several bros down at Port.

In addition, North are professed to be interested in getting Pickett back. If that's right then there's the basis of a simple trade there, give or take a draft pick here or there.

Very insightful observation there Macca. The only thing is who drives the deal at the end of the day: If its Motlop I think he'll certainly end up at Port as he tried to do 2 years ago. But if North retain full control of the trade, he may end up at Freo or Brisbane. Will be interesting to see...

whenever you are wrong you resort to to change the topic dont you? This is very interesting, as it happens quite often these days.

If you would like to know, we had pick4 which we got with torney and with our other picks swapped as part of kane johnson, so you are wrong. We had that pick and chose to pass that pick on. And you saying that we were always passing the pick on, does it make it better or right? Apart from the fact you dont know, would we have stopped if it was pick2? It is used as an excuse now, but i think they would of passed it on, they were of the belief that we were a good key forward off a premiership, and passing up an chance at the best CHF in the comp would of been too hard to refuse. Fact is we were weak at the trade table as we often are. Thats one of the reasons our list is in the state we are today. Plz explain how we never had pick4 though, it should be interesting.

You other arguments are basically rubbish or changing the subject cause this is what you are best at. The club has maybe thompson and mattner as possible elite talents coming through, thats it. In a couple of yrs when, roo is gone and we are struggling you will see this. This yrs effort was 95% NC's coaching basically using the same list but with better organisation and glame plans in effect. I would also be interested as to what football trading you have done in your life if you are an expert in this field.
