Rich and a First Class Crumber and we're set, barring any injuries. Anyone outside today's 22, bar Gaff, is expendable.

The good thing is that the trading value of alot of our players has risen
I would off load Masten, if it meant getting Rich

Really offload Masten??..would offload Ebert before I ever thought of Masten. I haven't actually seen alot of Brisbane, but how has Rich been? Ever since his first year I have heard he has struggled abit.

People just read the numbers rather than actually watching him play. He's come under more attention each year and has continued to improve each year. Pure class.

Really offload Ebert??... Your both wrong - If it came down to it, swift should be the man - didn't Vossy rate him highly?

Wouldn't be surprised if swift asks to be traded at the end of the year due to frustration at not getting an opportunity

Unless he starts getting 20 touches for us rather than 30 in the WAFL, it would still take our first rounder + Swift to get Rich. (assuming our first rounder is going to be quite a way down the pecking order with GWS & now that winning games is the in thing.)

One can only hope our gameplan & future is something that exites Rich and he wants to be a part of it. Then the uncontracted, want to come home factor means we can rape Brisbane.

Would play better here alongside Shuey, Kerr and Priddis who will share the attention.

Things could change but I heard he is looking to come back to WA. I have no further information but I am fairly certain we have yet to show any interest.

The club has been abnormally patient with Masten. Nursing him through injuries. Giving him unwarranted games experience.

Just as he looks like he's ready to breakthrough you want to give up on him? No way that happens.

At the start of this season, Rich was left out of Brisbane's leadership group. They instead chose to promote Rockcliffe, Drummond and Mitch Clarke.

From an outsider's pov, that seems to be a clear signal he has no interest in staying there long term. Pure speculation but it makes no sense to leave him out when he's clearly their best piece moving forward.

We should go for Brandon Matera instead, he would complement us greatly, and make our foward line even more potent.

Agree. Matera's talent is more rare than Rich's. We will have plenty of drafts to target quality midfielders.

You just got me a bit excited.

Just a bit

The Eagles do not 'rape' opposition clubs at the trade table. We are not Collingwood.:(

Brisbane will be lucky they are dealing with us if a trade occurs, Eagles are fair traders and understand what goes around comes around.

In fact the Lions are in front already, we got the short straw with the Staker > Dalziell swap.;)

Masten and Rich were good mates I believe so I can't see a straight swap happening.

Ebert to Port is much more likely to get us a decent pick and not upset the playing group as much. Then again why would Ebert want to go to Port now, he's just endured a 3 year rebuild and we are now starting to win games. He'd be moving 'back in time' and cop another 2 years of floggings and rebuilding.

Word has it that the Lions are already planning their end of season trip, and will only let Rich take part if he re-signs. Rich isn't happy at all about this.

HF: Lecras - Kennedy - Rich
FF: Matera - Darling - Hams

woweee

it looks pretty nice, apart from bloody hams in the pocket. what is it with people on here and bloody hams. hes 24 and cant get a came for us now, so i dont like the look of his future for next year.

Seems to be a lot of "Word has it..." going around about Rich on BigFooty, a lot of it contradicting each other.

This.
I like Rich as a player but Matera has both a higher ceiling and is more use to us position and attribute-wise.
We have a stack of inside mids. Stevens, Masten and Swift either aren't getting game time or aren't getting played in the guts where they belong. If Rich comes in to the squad, one of Kerr, Priddis or Shuey has to come out of the middle, not to mention the Selwoods, Lecras et al.

Matera gives us that crumbing ability we've been looking for, defensive pressure not unlike our current forward setup and the potential to develop into a pacy outside mid, something we've also been looking for. Oh and his name.

We can just play Rich outside the packs, will be damaging in space.

This, exactly! :thumbsu: He's not an inside mid, why make him into one. I'll bet he could get that ball 50m to a forward faster than any defender could get back there. :)

We would play Rich as a receiver not a ball getter. We don't want or need him at the bottom of the pack but getting the first or second handball out of the packs and then drilling someone with a spear pass.

Agree we have a lot of inside mids and chances are we would need to lose one to get Rich anyway.

In todays game players need to play more than 1 role

Matera can play Forward and a liitle in the middle out side so that would give us more flexibilty with rotations ie we don't need to interchange as much as players can change positions

look at collingwood - Krakour, THomas, Swan, Didak, side bottom, Blair, even davis can play through the centre and forward.

I am not saying don't look at rich though I just think matera could add more flexibilty
