Without knowing too much about Yarran, just interested to know how blues fans feel about not selecting Daniel Rich? Can anyone see this decision coming back to haunt ala my mob selecting fiora ahead of pavlich and tambling ahead of buddy?

don't know. only time will tell, but one thing is certain is we needed a little zip in the forward line and yarran should provide that. we have more midfielders than anyone in the league i think. so another one was not a neccesity. the club we're very keen on yarran though, so i'll stick by their beliefs.

I'm pretty happy to be honest, and I think Yarran will vindicate our decision to overlook Rich in the future.

Rich is a great prospect but it seems to me he has limited scope. He has some great attributes but for me they don't seem to mix that well... I mean, he's a strong nuggety guy who sounds like he should be at the bottom of a pack, but then you hear about his left foot? I just feel like you have to compromise one part of his game to get the most out of another. In Yarran's case, I think he basically has all the attributes you would expect from a potentially elite mid/forward. He has all the skills, smarts, speed, class, goal sense, movement and creativity you would expect. Pretty much every part of Yarran's game receives a big tick. Rich will be great but I think Yarran trumps him.

You wish. ;)

I don't mind taking the "risk" pick of the draft because as you can see when they do pay off they pay off bit time.

Franklin looked to have a bad attitude and work ethic but had the skills to be a great footballer. Hawthorn are now thanking their lucky stars.

Selwood had injury troubles and was a risk at a top 5 pick but now Geelong are laughing at most who passed on him.

Pendulbury was not a footballer IIRC but was a great athlete and sports person. He is Collingwood's best midfielder.

So taking a "risky" pick is great when it works but can often lead to ridicule and mocking from other teams.

You really don't want to start the comparison file........it won't end well for you.;)

Do we need to open up "Richmond's draft mistakes" for you?

It's bigger then the bible mate.

No!

Only The Beatles and the tourist guide "Things To Do In Kinglake When It's Foggy" are bigger than the bible.

What about the dictionary or "Great one liners: By Thy"

Funnily enough, chapter 1 in that guide is
"Making funny comments at others expense".

They get lots of fog out there.;):D

In the last 10 years;
Murray Vance
Luke Livingstone
Andrew Walker
Jordan Russell
Josh Kenneddy

As opposed to
Fiora
Schulz
Tambling
Oakley Nicholls

From high picks.

And

Thornton
Bentick
Carrazzo
Jamieson

As opposed to;
Moore
Foley
Tivendale
Thursfield
King

From rookie picks.

Clearly yuo guys aren't as superior as you thought...

It's pretty easy to name all the duds.

What about the players after your stuff ups?

Pavlich and Franklin are the 2 best forwards in the game.

Bad luck champ.

Walker and Kenndey are no duds you dud!

Yeah, but how good they turned out to be wasn't because we overlooked them.

3 clubs overlooked both. Including Hawthorn re. Buddy.
And Tambling is forgin quite a servicable career.

So one mistake, taking Fiora over Pav.
Just like Freo took Hill over whoever; he's very Fiora-ish.

But Fiora went on to have a bit of a career. As have Schulz and Tambling.

So our draft "mistakes" have all been servicable at least (bar JON so far)
As opposed to many of the above list, on Carlton's hands...

You really know our players when you bag JR, Kennedy and Walker.

Maybe you can give up another second and third round pick for McMahon and Thomson.

Or draft Hislop...

I can't believe you included Jake King as a positive for Richmond. :o

Well I included Bentick for you guys, so King was a given.
And I had Tambling and Schulz as well, who've both done about as much as Kennedy and Walker...
