Assuming that no1 will probably bid below our 23 pick for Daniher... could we then trade away our pick 39 that we would have used on Darcy anyway and be able to get him with pick 55?

It may not be much to anyone in this weak draft, but could be the difference between

*Gumby and pick 6 for Judd

Or

*Jetta picks 6 and 39 for Judd

Are we allowed to do this? Did the AFL put in rules along with the new F/S guidelines to stop clubs from doing this?

For example... if in 10 years time, Tommy Hird is the no. 1 prospect in a deep draft... could we trade away our first 3-4 picks for some great players and then land him with our, say no. 66, because it's our 'next highest pick'??

OR......

Our new coach Bomber Thompson could offer pick 39, Johns, Bradley and Slattery for Judd and WC accept, followed by me running naked from Melton to Windy Hill and dry humping Peter Jackson, right before we trade MJ for Prismall and select Masten with pick 6... ;)

"Tell him he's dreamin..."

Firstly Daniher has to nominate his PREFERRED club. Now lets assume that is Essendon. No way is Daniher worth any more than a 3rd rounder. So the only way another club can beat this is by offering a 2nd or 1st rounder for him. Pretty simple. So if we offer our 3rd round and Sydney offer their 3rd rounder, he'd go to Essendon under the F/S if he decides Essendon is his preferred club.

And FFS..we will not be trading Gumbleton..how many times do people still not get this..young KPP players are worth their weight in gold! So your first trade is just stupid. If we get rid of Bradley and Mark Johnson one of their picks plus our no6 pick plus Jetta can be used for Judd.

Hmm yes and Judd is just worth a lousy $800,000 maybe more?
How much gold is Gumbleton actually rolling in?

The bidding happens before trade week.

We'll know what pick we will use on Daniher (if it happens) before any deals are done.

Ahhkk thanks mate ;)

I was a bit excited i thought i found a loophole... No wonder i couldn't find anyone alse that had suggest this?

When does Darcy have to "decide" by...? Surely he won't go to Sydney though...

No we won't be able to muck around with the trade as you're suggesting.
Daniher will pick us and it will be up to Essendon to bid higher for him than Sydney. Now go to sleeeeep.
PS Peter Jackson has said today that we will not be trading Ryder or Gumbleton for Judd - as they will both be 10 year players - for Essendon.
You don't throw the baby out with the bath water.
