Really, our hopes for the year rest on the result of his scans….

ACL and I don’t see the point of making finals really. Better to get good draft picks. Sad.

No Moore for the rest of 2022 would be a significant setback, but I’m not ready to put the cue in the rack just yet. We can still make the finals, which would be a huge benefit to this hard working team. And we’d be about three years ahead of schedule (according to me at the start of the season☹️).

Yeah the learning curve of making finals will always outweigh jumping a few spots up for a speculative draft pick.
Darcy seemed reasonably upbeat after the game so fingers crossed it’s just a bone bruising type scenario with him and he’s back in a few weeks.

I’m personally not taking much from the McRae presser and I’m still mentally preparing myself for the worst. IMO, our next insight into the potential outcome arrives at 11am. If Madgen lines up in defense…

We got North, Adelaide, Essendon, and Port the next four weeks so taking a few weeks off won't be too catastrophic.
No such thing as an easy game anymore.

If we lose a couple of those with Moore sitting in the stands, it will hurt.

(Dont see us losing, but dont like people thinking it is automatic Ws, last time we thought that was v West Coast).

It’s almost like some people haven’t watched footy this year 🥴

Sydney were 5 goals up v Essendon early in the 2nd yesterday and burning them. 10 minutes later they were shot!

If anything these 4 “on paper” winnable games are the opportunity to set up a top 4 push not a time to put our feet up and smoke the pipe.

The coach certainly seems to understand that. I think we can cover Moore providing its a short term injury.
Fingers crossed.

Yep.

And as you say the attitude internally needs to be go full throttle for next month as top4 spot there for the taking.

We finish with Dees, Sydney in Sydney and Carlton

Fingers crossed Pies v Carlton in R23 is us going for top4, and we eliminate the Blues at the same time!!

Last from me considering we’re off topic, but for a side that’s 10-5 (and really should be equal top at 12-3) it’s startling how little faith we have. I guess that’s the life of a Pies fan 😔

Of course there are easy games. Or easier games. The bottom two teams have won three games all year and the next three above them have just four wins each. Some of those wins will be against each other so don’t really count. The ladder is as lopsided as it’s been for years.

The makeup of the top eight will be determined by which teams are lucky enough to play these teams twice. We haven’t had the rub of the green there as much as other clubs but we do get Essendon in a return game. We should expect/demand to win against North and Essendon and should expect to start favourites against Adelaide. After then it gets a little harder with Port then three top eight sides.

The Eagles loss was a long time ago and the club is playing much better now. Plus I think we underestimate the effect gastro had that week.

Moore at the end of the day is one player. Grundy makes two. That’s the extent of our injury list apart from some youngsters. You don’t throw the towel in when you lose just two players.

I never said they are easy wins. Just the calibre of opposition isn't as great as our previous 6 games.

Madgen went back into defense in the last quarter last week. I think he’ll be there again today but probably would’ve been anyway.

Hopefully Dean plays better as that’s the one we need to come in now. Murphy, Howe and Madgen is too undersized.

Last night was the first time this year I’ve noticed Moore with strapping around his knee. Hopefully there wasn’t any existing weakness that contributed to his knee collapsing on landing.

I don't think it was strapping, it looked like a big patch covering a cut or graze which he has occasionally had before. The knee injury was caused by a hyperextension in landing.

We’ll I’m in the “not as bad as it looked” camp
Apparently they don’t bother icing a bad knee injury.

I remember when Buddy hyperextended his knee in the semi final in 2011. He proceeded to come out the next week against us and kick 4 and nearly lead the Hawks to the granny.

I have faith it's nothing serious.

Hopefully a cut/graze was the case.

Not uncommon though that pre-existing weakness or previous knee injuries contribute to further knee injuries on landing. Budarick the young GC who hurt his knee last night had done his acl in the same knee 18 months ago. It’s old form, but as a club we have form in playing or returning blokes to the field after a knock to the knee only for them to subsequently offer an acl.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

And just came back from a hammy.

BTW an ACL is usually immediately iced to minimise swelling.
