He will improve as will ball. As long as he plays well come finals time i am happy (aka Clarke Keating Bris)....Keating was useless all year, come finals was a champion.

Re: Darren Jolly, Disappointing!

thought this guy was the best ruckman or at least one of, but in the first 3 games has shown nothing! and he looks slow and dumb!

He's definitely the best looking ruckman in the AFL.

Will this guy come good, or did we do a carlton and waste a first round draft pick?

Give him a chance. Rome wasn't built by Round 3.

He was in getting a scan yesterday - caught by the media who were after Reiwoldt and his hammy. Seemed to have a bandaged elbow. Perhaps playing under duress?? That and fitting into a new side. Still early days.

He's very lucky that Wood isn't fit at the moment because Jolly could do with a run in the vfl. Just looks out of sorts at the moment and not comfortable with the way Collingwood play. Gives away too many stupid frees.

you're kidding yourself if you think that would happen.

rightly or wrongly, an experienced player who has just been traded for 2 picks (one of them being a first rounder) is pretty much immune to being dropped in his first year

you have just repeated what i said three post earlier

he went alright in the praccy games didn't he? Maybe the elbow is causing him more grief and maybe he is trying too hard?

He won't get as many tapouts as what he did with sydney because we don't have as many stoppages as the swans and he won't play against Fraser where he usually had about 30 of them.

its not the amount of tapouts he wins - it's the amount he doesnt win.

IMO if we dont win more tapouts then our opponent then it is a fail for our ruck division.

Credit to the recruiters for trying to address the ruck situation.

But like oh so many other occasions, they just once again got it wrong.

Can't wait for Round 18 and many will STILL be saying it's early days and Jolly needs time to prove himself.

Paul Roos, clearly scammed us, kudos good sir, kudos.

He's certainly been tne major dissapointment so far for mine.

I suspect he also has a minor leg injury as he is reluctant to jump.

God, i hope he improves.

If it makes you feel better i'd already highlighted it here:

I don't think three rounds in is really enough time to make any hard judgments.

Give him a bit more time lads he will come good..

He's been crap. He's in the leadership group now, needs to lead by example and start getting himself into games.

he needs to start getting in front in ruck contests. he seems to be obsessed with playing from behind therefore giving away silly frees.he is a big bodied ruckman so for **** sakes play in front.it is so obvious.

I would also expect him to dominate the Hawks, they would have close to the worst rucking situation in the league.
He does better than Fraser anyway so at least its an upgrade, expect more from him though as the season goes on.

Ain't that the truth - and I reckon all you Pie fans are in for the time of you life this weekend. Jolly tore us a new one last year effectively killing our midfield off. This is strange game with two touted finalist teams - at least in the media, but with a hell of a lot to do to prove it. I reckon you've got the hoodoo broken this weekend.

He's a crab. Plain and simple.

Slow, dumb, Will Minson like. Where are the goals he was going to kick? Poor awareness. Sloppy defending. Lazy coverage of the ground. Knew this would happen - Hitler was right.

Please bring Cam Wood back straight away when he's not injured. I wish we got a receipt with this guy.

FWIW there was quite a lot of talk on the Swans board after the trade period about whether we had already gotten the best that Jolly was ever going to give on a footy field. I'm still not sure, but he has looked slow, his tap work ordinary, and he's not making it forward as often as he did when at Sydney. Gardiner from memory was alone in the 50 last game, when Jolly should've been with him...

i've just watched the first half of the saints game again - and i must say he didnt seem as bad as i remember him being - though i do remember his second half being worse than his first.. all of the free kicks were in the second half..

i guess ill watch the 2nd half and post my findings ;)

This is Darren Jolly's big week for mine, but it's Fraser I am more critical of, just because, well to be honest, he has given us nothing in 3 rounds.

On Friday night he was terrible, absolutely non existent in the vital second half, when the game was on the line.

But I will forgive both a little, because there was a legitimate excuse late week for mine, and that was the 2nd game after a 6 day break, back at the worst AFL stadium in the world, especially if you don't play there regularly.

Like I said in the other changes thread though, Wood will be in contention in 2 weeks most likely, so Fraser, Brown and Jolly have 2 more games to prove themselves.

some of the statements in here are ridiculous. It's Round 3 for god sake get it into your heads.

TBH don't think he's palying as bad as people say he is. Yes he dominated at the Swans and he will with the Pie.

Big week for Jolly

I believe this is Darren Jolly's big week, in the first few games he has came up against mature big bodied ruckman, (Hudson, Minson, Jamar, King, Gardiner), I admit I was hoping and believe and he should be beating or at least breaking even with these players, but in two games he got smashed. He hasn't been out positioning the bodies of the other ruckmen thus far as and subsequently give away a few silly free kicks. Fair enough it was his first few games and still think he will be good for us down the stretch.

This week however he should smash Renouf, especially around the ground, he is a lot stronger than him and more experienced, and should give our midfields first use and good delivery of the Ball.

I think if the happens it will help us a long way to winning the game as I think we have really struggled in this department the last few times, particularly Mitchell who has smashed us.
