it is a little early to say this but what is wrong with him? he has been beaten twice now by 2 average ruckman maybe he wasnt worth the trade last season.

Jamar isn't average, he is very underrated.

I'm not worried about Jolly, we play such a different game to Sydney, it was always going to take a while for him to get going and adjust.

Very early call! I'm with you HBF. Give him time to adjust. Still won 2 games with him doing bugger all. Same for Ball. Once they settle, they will be enormous come finals time.

He is defintely finding it hard to adjust to the Collingwood style of play.

His ruckwork has been competitive and OK, but his around the ground work in the first 2 games has been woeful.

He will get better over time, I'd be more concerned about Luke Ball, 18 posessions with a 50% disposal efficiency, 50%, ****.

He's just like any other footballer, every time the scenery changes, he has to develop again.

He will get better as the year goes on.

he has killed my supercoach this week scoring only 22 points!:thumbsd: thinking of trading him to kruezer... or i really hope he improves!

No it hasn't. He's had his pants pulled down comprehensively in the ruck by both Hudson and Jamar. He is the primary reason our clearances were awful today, can't win when Jamar's putting it down the throat of his mids.

His around the ground work I couldn't care less about...but his effort in the ruck needs to lift pronto. It's got nothing to do with adjusting or gameplan or whatever...it's just effort.

Agreed its still too early, but what game plan are you speaking about people? He is meant to be creating the contests for us, what does he need to adapt to? He is being beaten in the ruck, and whether you want to call Jamar and Hudson good ruckmen, thats your opinion, but in mine, he has been beaten by both. I couldn't believe such a monster could be thrown around so often in one game of footy against cellar-dwellers.

I'm a rookie to BigFooty forums, so forgive me, but do we always start threads every time someone has a below par game? It is so knee jerk it kinda bothers me a little. (I know, I could just not read it, but I'm sucked in time and time again) And here I thought swans supporters were fickle.

I mean, Heath Shaw was trounced by Petterd. I'm not hearing anyone say Harry O is a certainty for All-Australian this weekend. Dane Swan did frog all compared to his usual standards. Travis Cloke? That poor bastard is due to be stoned, isn't he? Are we gonna have threads pop up all week about whether 'they're overrated, they're not performing, they're a liability...' etc etc.

Constructive discussions like - did we have the right gameplan/structures for a team like Melbourne - would probably be better value. Are we still a momentum side, or can we contain teams when they get a run on? In fact, I'd say both of our games suggest we still struggle in that particular area.

THIS

Jamar is also a severly under rated tap ruckman

Lol. Just wait 'til we actually lose, then it's wall-to-wall tossers in here.

Whilst you'd often have a point, this game had absolutely nothing to do with gameplan or structures. We got (almost) done by a team of kids because they played a hell of a lot harder, and actually wanted the footy. Pretty simple.

If it's not a matter of adjusting, what is it?

Human effort is not a constant. He's not the first quality player to struggle through back-to-back weeks.

I'm not sure that's it either.

I don't understand why a quality player - one new to a club which has a real chance of a flag - wouldn't kill himself to impress at the start of the year.

Don't know what the problem is.

who the hell knows but it is way way to early to even be concerned.

Players have bad games, bad run of games, bad months and bad years. We can start worrying if hasn't shown anything after 4 or 5 weeks.

Add him being at a new club and he deserves a little extra slack too.

Not saying he will be right, or that he wont be, just that it's way to early to say.

What I saw today was Jolly getting man-handled (illegally) in the ruck all day. When he put physical pressure on Jamar he was penalised. Welcome to Collingwood Jolly.

The umpires probably think, he is still playing for Sydney. How do you think we have felt mate throughout the years, with our tall players? :)
