What has been lost in all of this is that Mackay actually had a good game…but if we can bring in a younger player we should!

Actually Mackay sparked our revival in that match: he was very influential, MadDog plus great goal. To drop him after that would be irrational. We would need delayed concussion or hurt feelings at the tribunal for him to miss. ;)

JBrown and Dunstall spot on.

What rule do the AFL bring in to stop this kind of injury happening?

Could take something from lawn bowls, measure from the Jack to the various bowls to determine which one is closest.

So in a game when a ball is in dispute all players freeze in position, the umpires then get tape measures out to see which player is closest to the ball, they are then allowed to gather the ball whilst everyone else stays still = no contact = happy AFL.

Newsflash: an attempt to declare contact during a contact sport “unreasonable”was a groundbreaking development by the world leading sports association the AFL, designed to reduce injury.

Mike Tyson had lauded the move as “Revolutionary” as he looked to come out of retirement and shadow box till he was 60.

However in a blow to such progressive thinking, 3 wise men deliberated over the ruling, finding highly questionable the use of the terms vulnerable, reasonable and frightening.

Contact was finally declared as not unreasonable in a contact game, in what should have been surprise to no one, apart from the fact the mummers farce took place at all.

Till the next time
