Wonder what players will need to be let go to fit them in?

What others will look elsewhere for opportunity?
Fitting them in won’t be a problem to start with, as they’ll be on their draftee contracts.

There’s a LOT of players coming out of contract this year and next year that will retire or be delisted.

So list spots won’t be an issue either.

We know Sharp is headed back to WA.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both of Flanders and Hollands requests a trade back to Vic.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Mac Andrew requested a trade either.

Charlie Constable, Connor Blakely, Jed Anderson, plus quite a few rookies are all out of contract.

Sam Day and Levi Casboult will likely retire.

I don’t see list spots being a problem.

i am curious as to how Wil Dawson and Sam Van Rooyen go...
This will be the most compromised top 10 outside the expansion drafts.

If reports are true, NM McKay FA and GWS Himmelberg FA will be two AFL magic created top 5 picks. Then you have multiple GC academy picks.

A rebuilding team could have pick 6 that becomes 10 which is just ridiculous and can understand why rebuilds take long with the draft being so compromised every year.

Who are Annable and Addinsall part of?
Annable, Lions academy. 2025 draft. Mid

Addinsall, Suns academy. 2025 draft. Mid.

I wouldn't be surprised if both clubs have 3 or 4 draftees each from this age group.

Edit: I hope the Lions don't stack their team with U17's, like we did last season. We possibly have quite a few decent U15's that should fill out the team.

I'd think we'll be very into Zane Duursma or Watson over Caddy at this stage as a fwd half player

Caddy IMO goes to either North or Hawthorn anyway. North dont need more mids, maybe a CHB but definately another avenue to goal.,

Hawks may go McKercher but the Tassie go home factor may see him slide out to later in the top 10. Again need goal kickers ahead of more mids. And a CHB.

Blues need Watson the magician to help sort out their goal kicking woes and add some class by foot entering the F50. He likely will be the best available around their pick too.

I don't think we need another mid, our midfield is quickly turning into a strength, im guessing the Hawks might target a forward? But they might go best available?

I like not seeing Luamon Lual in a top 40, it'd be a slide but maybe not impossible.
I think he might slide past pick 40, but I can't read clubs' minds, a Sydney might pop up and take him?

I just saw an article saying suns can only match two academy bids in the top 20? Who do you think they let slide ?
If Gold Coast makes the finals they will have a big decision to make on which 2 out of Walters, Rogers and Read they take, KPP are more rare so they could go that route? also Walters is a priority for them, they wouldn't give up a Tom Hawkins-esque player ever.

Walters will be taken no matter what.

Twomey discussed it on the commentary the other day and suggested the Suns will find a way to get all three even if they make finals. You'd think they would like to draft any locals as promising as these three.

Davo any update on the sandy vs oakleigh game yesterday? Saints had 2 nga players running around. Just wondering how they went. Thought docking was stiff not to play metro

Or they trade down to a lower pick, use it to draft Walter and then can match bids on the two remaining academy kids.

Hawks have access to a couple of FS picks this draft and next.

Are they mids?

The type and quality of these FS options may influence the type of player they chase with live picks.

Suspect the play would be to sell the current first, then after Walter is bid on trade back into the first round and pick Read/Rogers then match on the others.

All this only matters if the Suns make the finals, which is possible but not a certainty.

So trade pick say 11 out for future picks.

Then after the Walters bid and second bid trade back into the 1st and use that pick.

Logistically that needs another club with the correct pick on speed dial come draft night.

Yes, that's quite accurate.

Constable, Casboult, Sharp, Day, Flanders are on senior list and off contracts. All could be gone.

Plenty of players on rookie list who could be moved on and players like Burgess, Berry moved to rookie list to created spots on senior list.

In case of Hollands, Andrew you could be correct, but they are under contracts.

We have Will McCabe, around the 20 pick mark I think? 1 of SA best this year, although SA doesn't look great this year, we also have long shot options in Maginness and Dear, that's up to the club if they think they can develop them, not sure about next year, Burgoyne's eldest, I think is eligible, have not heard much about him?

Bulldogs have 2 firsts and would love a pick before a Croft bid comes.
Croft had a big 1st champs game, stocks might rise?

Are there any good small forwards in this draft in the second or third rounds?
Callinan might go in the 2nd round? From Tassie and the allies, maybe Tom Anastasopoulos from Geelong Falcons and VC

I think Ky Burgoyne might choose Port because his cousin Rome is in the same draft year
