First game for the Willy seniors this year on the weekend. Played 3 quarters and kicked 2 goals. Hopefully he can play most of the next game and kick 3-4 goals and get some form up. Really looking forward to a hopeful return to the collingwood side for davo, really deserves to the poor bugga.

GO DAVO!

well 2-3 weeks ago i would have said give him 2 weeks at Willy, to egt some game time and confidence then get him straight back into the ones....but with a few wins plus Rusling getting a game and looking real good, there is no need to rush Tommy back just yet

would love to see him get 5-8 games near the end of the year though, just to see him out on the park again

Good Luck Tommy! :)

Saw Davo play on the weekend and was very happy with his output. Another month or so and he will be ready for senior footy. Attitude seemed very good too.

Not sure he has a spot now.

Of course he has but like every player on the list he'll have to work for it. Tarrant Didak and Rusling can make room for him by playing further up the field. Caracella's purple patch wont last forever. Rocca may never come back. Theres room for him if he's good enough.

If anything his return from injury if successful leaves less room for other talls like Hall J Cloke Walker Richards Fanning and Morrison

Anyone else thinking we're going to have to turn one out of Tarrant, T. Cloke, Rusling and Davidson into a tall defender, considering that we're lacking in those stocks.

I'd think that Taz and Davidson would be the best candidates for it. Taz because his kicking at goal is so erratic, and Davidson because he's likely to have a lost a step on his leads from the two knee reco's.

I just think it's time to address the issue of having one young true defender, although Maxy is pretty awesome :D .

Rusling has the potential to play a tall midfield role like a Cameron Bruce or a James Hird, if he can develop a motor. Re tall defenders, I havent written off Walker or Hall. Cam Cloke is another potential solid defender.

Cam Cloke could be alright as a defender if he works on fitness, ground level skills and pace which is doubtfull. I reckon his role is part time forward part time ruckman.
Davo would make a pretty good defender but then again we haven't seen him play there. He seems to have most of the tools, good speed, ground level skills are ok and good in the air.
Hall and Walker may come along but Walker continues to disapoint. Hall still has plenty of time but this is a crucial year for Walker and he's disapointing. Hall, however seems to be playing ruck/forward for Willy even though Willy are short down back.
So far I tihnk if we get 4/5 picks in the draft we should invest it like this:
1st round -classy midfielder
2nd round - key position player that is/can be turned into a defender but is not high risk like Hall and Billy
The othher picks can be used on anything but we don't need another tall forward.

HE wont get a game with the likes of cole, davis and woewodin miles ahead of him. By the way how did woewoding go on the weekend. Heard he went pretty well. Time to drop egan me thinks :)

Walker needs a brain transplant before he could become a defender, got smashed in about 10 minutes of play on Sunday down at Williamstown whilst playing full back

Trav would be a good CHB, as would Taz or Davo. We have a couple of good forwards who could become defenders but atm, lets get them into some forward form and then when we lose Wakes, try a couple of them down there. Right now lets enjoy their play in the forward line

Davo will be available for the Port game I would say, whether he gets a game, it depends on Rusling really.

I was thinking watching the game on Sunday, how will we ever fit Davo, Rusling and Taz in the same forward line? They are all the same player basically, from the back of the stands looking at Davo, he is almost Tazs twin from a distance as he is the exact same size, build etc, Rusling plays the same game as them as well. Interesting move of our recruiting staff to go for these players, good idea as it gives us such unpredictability and freedom to move em around during a game

In an interview with MM on SEN he said he felt Travis would be a sensation at CHB

Travis on SEN last night thinks with a good pre-season under his belt (he has never done one yet) he could play ....................... wait for it .............................................. in the mid field as an on baller.
Don't you just love this kid.

Remember puffing Anthony Rocca a few years ago? Some big men take years to build up aerobic fitness. Cam will get there. With fitness will come skills which he has enough of. Pace will never be his number one asset but it will be sufficient with the correct match-up.

Re Trav at CHB - Yes but why. He's potentially the best young we've seen since McKenna. Let him put his stamp on CHF before moving him around the ground.

Last chance for Tommy to make an impression you would think.

I would love to see him out there. I am sure all AFL Fans believe he has potential. We saw it in the 20 odd minutes he has played AFL Footy, but do AFL fans think he is a Courteny Johns.

Well. The first step is getting over the injury(s) the second is to start playing good footy, the third is to break into the seniors.

Lets hope he does each quickly.

I wouldn't worry about Cam's fitness. He rucked well in the last Q on Friday. You have to be fitter to ruck than to play defense. There aren't many Tarrants running around and you wouldn't put Cameron Cloke on one anyway.

Murray, it's a bit optimistic to say Tom could play anywhere. He's played 1/2 a games of AFL and had a second reco since. With Rocca to come back and another year of draftees I think he'd be doing very well to make it now. He can't slot onto defense at present and midfield/wing is a big call at this point. I hope like hell he is good enough to force his way into our forward line but I'm not holding my breath.

Hotpie, those players are either well ahead as forwards or aren't in the best 22. What you are saying is there is room on the list and at Willi, which is certainly correct but he will be very hard pressed cementing a spot up forward in the seniors and I'm yet to see evidence he would make it anywhere else. I'm not counting him out but I am far from sure he has a spot in the senior team. Love to be wrong.

Re Walker - I’ve lost all faith. Trade him at the end of the year while he still has "potential". We MUST cull talls. Billy to be delisted and Tex to be traded for me. IMO he has NFI.

I know our senior defenders are getting on in years but nevertheless I am confident that Presti has four, Wakes two, and Clement four-five years left. That leaves us plenty of time to find replacements, escpecially if you pencil Maxwell in as a long term player at Collingwood.

I think we have time on our side with the tall defenders we have on the list. I'd rather give Tex another year, but I admit my confidence in him is droppong week by week. If he and Hall and J Cloke havent cut it by the end of 2006, then we should look elsewhere. Same applies for Davidson Richards and Fanning.

Morrison needs to be chopped immediately.

You're assuming our forwards are all permanent forwards. They may not be. Didak and Rusling have midfield potential and we all know Tarrant could be a superstar on the wing.

Mark, bad news re Walker, he is safe. They apparently gave him a new contract earlier this year, you cant trade a player after signing them up. Funnily enough ever since his contract renewal, he has gotten worse and worse

Otherwise he would likely find himself cut as we will have a big turnover this year, we have 3 rookies that are more than likely to be promoted in O'Brien, Fanning and Davies, so thats 3 seniors that must go, plus about anotherf 4-5 for draftees and if we want to trade thats a couple more

He was in Willy's best last weekend
We can leave O'Brien and Davies on the rookie list for another year, and I suggest that we should, considering that with out luck, we'll be able to promote them on account of someone getting injured :(
