I'm sure you were implying Dawes gets a lot of hype while Vickery doesn't, but to be honest, neither of them get much hype. Neither of them probably deserve much hype at this stage either actually, they are both young blokes with output that doesn't really match their potential.

Dawes if you want a forward, Vickery if you want a ruckman who can pinch hit up front at times.

I went for Vickery now and into the future. Their numbers this year were remarkably similar and considering Dawes has had 4 pre-seasons (2006 was a write off because of his knee) compared to Vickery's 2 (2008 was a write off for the same reason as Dawes). I just think that Dawes needed to be clearly in front for me to go with him right now and IMO he wasn't considering he received the better and more frequent service of the two.

For the future I believ Vickery is the better mark, however Dawes makes up for that by being better at ground level. It's Vickery's ability to go into the ruck that wins him the nod into the future.

i reckon you would be surprised how good vicks is at grd level.

Dawes is one of the best KP forwards at ground level outside Buddy. It's sad that it's evened out by his rubbish overhead marking.

I gave a really positive review of a player from your club and you concentrate on the single part of my post that still wasn't even a negative toward him. I know Vickery is good for his size at ground level (similar to Josh Fraser before he was cruelled by injury), but he just isn't as good as Dawes.

I think Smiddaz summed it up perfectly, outside of Buddy, Dawes is probably one of if not the best KPF's at ground level in the league.

Finally I can't understand why you'd take the time to post, but not to type the 3 extra letters of ground. It really ain't that difficult!

Weird comparison given the age difference. Vickery has alot more potential and personally I see him becoming our number 1 goal kicking forward ahead of Jack. He is still very light but his agility combined with putting on some more muscle will be very hard to match up on.

Dawes is a good player but won't ever be a star imo. Great for structure and is certainly a huge unit.

Have to laugh at the Essendon supporters bagging Vickery being tough because he rag dolled Ryder this year in a biffo.

and im not saying you didnt either, all im saying is imho vicks is very good. i watch every game and dawes hasnt shown to me to be be the best after buddy. i must check him closer next year, i may be wrong but then i may be right. everybody has their own view on things and i would nearly say j riewoldt is better than both of them.

ps did that just to get under your skin!:D

Vickery now and in future for me.

The kid is an absolute gun. His overhead marking is a speciality and he is strong too. His ability to play in the ruck too is also a sweetener.

Highlights package from Rd 23 against the Crows says it all.

I know it screws up at the end but I'll describe it. Webberley kicks it to the pocket and Vickery takes a nice contested grab, wheels around and snaps it truly.

i would love to have them both, they would make a super athlete if they could merge lol. i think they both have different qualities about them. they are both young and have a bright future. i think a lot of peoples answers will be bias as they know there own player more as they have watched them all year. vickery is the bigger improver from my eyes and will only get better. he was going to get cut from the side this year if he didnt perform
