FREMANTLE will consider out-of-favour Essendon youngster Kepler Bradley, but not at the expense of a high draft pick.

Freo football manager Robert Shaw said the Bombers had thrown up Bradley’s name at trade talks this week and while Freo would look at bringing the former West Perth junior back to his home state, the club’s main focus was on injecting new blood into its talent-packed playing list.

“Essendon just threw him (Bradley) up as to say they would be looking to give him an opportunity elsewhere,” Shaw told afl.com.au.

“We’re going to consider it, that’s all, but it won’t be with our (top picks) … no we’re just hanging onto our picks.”

Shaw said Fremantle was taking a low-key approach to this week.

“We’re holding onto our first and second picks and, as a matter of fact, of the two or three blokes here most of our blokes have gone back to Perth.

“We’re probably the lowest-key club of the lot of them.”

Sounds like we'll be keeping our list as is....

No KEP please :thumbsd:

apparantly amon buchanan is up for trade. i reckon he is a ripper and wouldnt mind it if we had a crack

I finally know now why we have such trouble with trade time and drafting, WE CAN'T COUNT!!!!
seriously, they are having trouble counting to 3!!! and then they can't even work out a simple subtraction, they don't even know how many people they have over there???

what they hell are they doing??? sitting there playing uno i bet...no wait!! go fish HAHAHA....here's how it goes

collingwood represtative: We'll give you richards and cox for schammer
Freo Man#1(oblivious to any discussion) go fish
Collingwood rep: what? ok then what do you want for him?
Freo man#2(also oblivious)(to Freo man#1) ok then have you got any two's???
Collingwood rep: nope but we have an 11??
Freo man#1: (to freo man 2) Go fish
Collingwood rep: (getting annoyed at lack of co operation) Mr Demetriou. Fremantle are playing cards and aren't doing it properly
Demetriou: Fremantle!! Pay attention!!
Freo man#1 and #2:wha what?? *look around the drafting table*... hey where'd swabby go???

Surely it's worth having a crack at Hadley??

I'd say so, though I think the point Shaw is making though is that players like Hadley aren't going to come with a 3rd or 4th round pick price tag, so they aren't interested. Sounds solid to me.

I think there is a chance we can get him through the PSD. Put it this way if we dont get one of the three mentioned this morning in the PSD i would be surprised. They were Dyson, MJ and Hadley. Would prefer Hadley.

Any word on Matt Moody anywhere?

the only year I can see that Freo hasn't been involved in trade week is 2005.

There is something that can be said about keeping a list together.

Indeed, seems every time we get some new blood into our team the next year we flop. Stick with what we have, get some rookies, and yeah, play to our massive potential.

maybe we could combine the both of them into a fully functional frankenstein footballer? we could call him hadmuir or longley....we could graft an extra two sets of arms onto his front and back to aid in marking contests and for easy pick ups off the ground, hmmmm should we put two heads on to it or would they always be in two minds *boom tish* and we could use one of their leftover appendixs to give back to schammer for compensation.

THE career of Essendon veteran Mark Johnson is in limbo, while teammate Kepler Bradley is being floated before the Kangaroos and Fremantle.

Johnson, 29, is out of contract and the Bombers are trying to help him find a new club in 2008.

In other words, he is up for trade, but as yet a club hasn't made an official offer.

It's understood Johnson, who was axed for two of the last four games of the 2007, is not adverse to a club switch.

Another Bomber, Ricky Dyson, has suitors but as yet the club has not received an offer. He will be offered a new contract at Windy Hill if a deal isn't done.

The career of Johnson, a premiership utility who played 194 games since making his debut in 1999, is at the cross-roads.

"He is currently out of contract and we're currently having discussions with Essendon," his manager Michael Quinlan said last night.

"Mark believes he has a lot to offer going forward and I believe he has at least two more years of good football ahead of him."

Johnson is currently in London, and like former teammate Dean Solomon who was in in the UK last year when traded to Fremantle, Johnson could find out he has a new home via the telephone.

Bradley's future at Essendon also seems dead despite him winning the Bendigo Bombers' best and fairest under new senior coach Matthew Knights.

The plethora of talls at Windy Hill, combined with Knights' attitude to secure as many picks as possible for the national draft, means the No.6 selection in the 2003 draft is likely to be traded.

The Kangaroos have showed interest, and less so Fremantle who are coached by former Bomber assistant Mark Harvey.

It was reported the Bombers were seeking a late first-round selection for Bradley, an asking price beyond their wildest dreams.

They will deal Bradley in exchange for the Kangaroos' second-round selection, No.32, or Fremantle's second-round selection, No.24. A third-round selection is more likely.

Knights said on Monday: "There has been a good degree of interest for those boys (Johnson and Bradley) but again it is only a starting point and there has been interest from other clubs but we are not at a stage where that is too far forward at this stage."

The Dockers will sit on Bradley talks until Friday, preferring to go after midfielders if they are available.

"Essendon just threw him (Bradley) up as to say they would be looking to give him an opportunity elsewhere," Dockers football manager Robert Shaw said yesterday.

"We're going to consider it, that's all, but it won't be with our (top picks)."

Kangaroo football manager Donald McDonald said his club would only be a bit player during trade week and didn't believe it could get Kepler.

"We would be keen to have him but the reality is that I think he would be out of our ball park," he said.

"Kepler is a good player but he would be a bit hard for us to get. Put it this way, we would not be taking him with our first round draft picks."

McDonald said while other clubs had asked about some Kangaroo players, it had gone no further.

"We believe that we will be just as we are and will go into the draft and take our picks and probably promote a couple of players," he said.

LOOKS A FAIR CHANCE HE MIGHT BE OURS IN THE PSD!!!!!!
Would prefer if we could get Dyson but Johnson would add a little of we get him for nothing.
If we can get Bradley with our 3rd round pick as mentioned here i would jump at it.

Agreed!

This years draft apparantly runs dry around picks 20-25 so using our third rounder to net a developing KPP whose already spent time a few years in the game would be worth it.

Especially if Murph does land somewhere else to seal a deal on a midfielder.

And MJ in the PSD for nothing would be sweet - get some more depth for zippo and stop having to rely on guys like Walker when our first choice players are injured...

Donno, we really need midfielders and pacey players. Getting yet another 190+ player who isn't a midfielder seems to be a stupid move, regardless of how good we think they are. We need to be looking at midfielders, and midfielders only, unless a quality full back is on the market.... ;)

We have a glut of quality 190+ players, I can't even see Bradley in our starting 22, can you? The only reason last year we went for Tarrant and Solomon is because we thought after winning all those games in a row our midfield was ok, we were wrong. Screw this year up trading wise and yeah....

I agree young midfielders, young midfielders and then young midfielders !!

I don't think it is beyond to realms of possibility to consider Bradley as a Wingman at Subiaco.

3rd rounder would be nice, doubt Essendon would agree. Hard to see where an upgrade into the late second round might come from.

He is a big lad for a wingman

The point is , who is he better than at our club? I'd rate Campbell higher.
