Lol. Mr turnip that's my boy!

**appreciate the work!

I just read the article. Crisp has visited the Westpac centre over the weekend and a deal is imminent.
It looks like 5, 25, and Crisp is going to happen.

The rebuild has officially commenced.
Over the weekend and we put the press release out on Friday?
Get ****ed!
Amateur hour shit by the club if that is the truth.

OK, make of this what you will... on Google news I saw the following headline on AFl.com.au from 48 minutes ago:

"THE PATH has been cleared for Dayne Beams to join the Brisbane Lions after young midfielder Jack Crisp was included in a package that Collingwood appears close to accepting. Crisp, who was keen to return to Victoria after three seasons with the Lions, "

BUT when you click the link it is dead, like it's been removed. Not sure what it means....deal's off maybe?
From AFL.com.au

THE PATH has been cleared for Dayne Beams to join the Brisbane Lions after young midfielder Jack Crisp was included in a package that Collingwood appears close to accepting.

Crisp, who was keen to return to Victoria after three seasons with the Lions, has been packaged in the offer with selections No.5 and No.25 in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.

AFL.com.au understands Crisp has visited the Westpac Centre and a deal is imminent three days after the Magpies' deadline for negotiations passed.

Collingwood took a hard stance on the Lions' push to land Beams, who has one year to serve on his contract, declaring negotiations had ceased at 5pm last Friday.

The inclusion of Crisp, however, who played the final six games of the season and showed encouraging signs, appears to have forced a rethink from the Magpies.

Although relatively unknown, the 190cm Victorian has good endurance and arguably provides another element to the Magpies' midfield mix.

Collingwood has been keen from the outset to find a ready-made player as part of the trade to replace Beams, and they are expected to use pick No.25 to secure midfielder Levi Greenwood from North Melbourne.

Varcoe is faster, a more elite kick, has more talent and flair, and provides our team something we seriously are lacking. We have replacements for Beams, and honestly when Freeman and Broomhead get going we will barely remember Beams and his blind hack kicks out of stoppages.
Beams is a Brisbane Bears spud now, it's finished for him.

"Fight on with us against hated Bolshevism.....for freedom of the individual, for freedom of religion and conscience, for the abolition of slave labour, for property and posession, ... for social justice, for a happy future for your children, for the right to advancement and education without regard to origin, for state protection of the aged and infirm..."

Dr Joseph Geobbels, January 1945

Danger!......

Nah he'll get Pendlebury's number next year, because that deal will be Broomy and steak knives (Pendles, Steelo and Moore) for Dangerfield and Jake Kelly (welcome home son). Just because other teams get the home town kid discount doesn't mean we do at the Westpac Centre.

*sigh*

Oh well, if the rumours are true, I hope Crisp tears it up.

Yes, I wanted Greenwood so I'm happy he's coming. But I'm not interested in Varcoe and we already have a tall midfielder/flanker project in Karnezis. Honestly, it's hard to see this as anything but a loss.

Beams for 5, Greenwood and Crisp?

I'm sure Brisbane would love it if we sent 5, J. Thomas (IMO, equally talented but JT lacks consistency) and Dwyer for Rockliff.

I sorely hope we aren't taking #5 to the draft. We should be looking to trade down for multiple picks in the top 20-30. I have much more faith in Hine's ability to spot talent in the draft than I am in our trading.

Because Beams, Lumumba and #30 for #5, Greenwood, Crisp and Varcoe looks like a disaster.

There's no avoiding it was going to be an ugly trade period. I'm angry about it & over it. I'm glad Beams is out, I hate his guts, & I'll be heckling him harder than any other gun player who has left our great club. He didn't do much in the 2010 gfs, and has been downhill skiing most of the time since. Emotions aside, In 3-5 years time, we'll know what side of the ledger the deal ends up, but in the end it won't dictate where we end up. The unity of the club trumps any of that. I think as a club, this point in time is a definitive fork in the road in a lot of ways. We either show up a unified, committed outfit, contest by contest, of every single game next year or we don't. I'm actually more excited about seeing the Broomheads, Kennedys, Grundys, Freemans, Sharenburgs, Adams starting to take games by the scruff of the neck & stamp themselves on games. Elliott will do so more often. Greenwood will be a warrior for us, more so than Beams ever was. Swannie will be injury free. Reid at CHB will be a key. In terms of big bodied clearance players, I don't understand why we don't throw Cloke in at the centre bounces early on in games , even if just occasionally, just to crunch a few blokes & make his presence felt ... We need to be more unpredictable like the hawks, I digress ...

Not disagreeing with you just clarifying if you were talking about him. Haven't seen the all run together but all three have elite speed so whoever's faster won't make much of a difference.

You rang:D

I agree, wants the point in turning over 180mil plus if you can't attract the best a) off field talent ( yes pay the tax) and b) some top line elite players.
Shake the tree and start getting the best ED.

Thats really all I can hope for right now. Much like you, stoked to get Greenwood but would much rather a pick for Lumumba than Varcoe.

I just cant believe the Dogs are going to get gold for Griffen while we're stuck with copper for Beams
