Beams may have signed unders in his last contract but that was largely goodwill.
He racked up about $400 k plus directly in legal and settlement fees when the club hired the top QC in Melbourne to represent him in 2010.

Pick 5 and 25 are not good enough and also the Greenwood trade should be separate to this.

48 hours left for Brisbane to give what we want or he stays at Collingwood next season. Greenwood, Beams, Pendlebury, Sidebottom and Swan sounds like a really solid midfield if you ask me.

Conversation between Beams and Shaw in Kew.
Shaw: yeah nah **** the BnF night mate, **** Collingwood. Hung me out to dry!
Beams: yeah nah **** em, and I don't give a **** if they don't get a fair deal coz Im outta there.
Shaw: haha Beamer maaaaaate! Legend! GET UP!!!!
Beams: oh yeaaaaah Heater maaaaaate!
Shaw: yeah maaaaate, they're gonna think you're a campaigner for what your doing!
Beams: yeeeeah haha, well at least I'm being a campaigner now, you were a campaigner for two ****in years.
SILENCE.

Sounds like the Final Offer from Lions is Pick 5+28.

I be tempted to take that as we not going to get that Next Year
I would be gutted if after all this we took it.

We'd be the laughing stock of the AFL if we already aren't.

We've made some strong statements in regards to the Beams trade and if we were to roll over and be shat on with 5 & 28 I'd be gutted more than losing him next year for nothing.

A lot can happen in 12 months of football but 5 & 28 now is all it's ever going to be. From the sounds of this draft is not as strong bar the first few and we've already secured Moore so make a stand.

I'd take 2 draft picks under 14 or 5 and Redden. Aish/Mayes also but that won't happen.

Still feel like I'm on page 1 of this thread though.

Tell me more. I wasn't around here then. What happened exactly?

Then we might as well Keep Beams then

Agree. I'd prefer we tried to deal with others next week, even knowing that knocking back 5 and 28 would most likely mean Beams would need to remain at the club next year, and that that would mean there would be a greater chance we lose him for nothing next year.

Heaters sentences are too long and coherent. Especially after a few pots

Just under 48 hours now until the Collingwood impose deadline, but that's still plenty of time for the BearLions to come up with a third pick or an improved second pick (inside the first round) so that the deal goes through.

I dont see you getting levi for 25 as the dogs aparently have offere 26&27 so.... also no offense but with beams being a bit of a douche and no going to b&f etc do you really want him dragging down morale etc next year?

Collingwood has strongly and publicly stated what they will accept.
Brisbane have strongly and publicly stated what they are not willing to give up.

Problem. Either someone is going to lose face or the deal is not getting done. I am slowly thinking the no deal option (with Brisbane anyway) is getting stronger and stronger. The language both parties have used has pretty much ruled out a compromise. Either Beams stays or accepts another club.

I don't see how the Dogs can still field that offer if they're serious about going after Lonergan. Stinks of a one-off offer if it happened at all.

I think that is the most likely scenario ot, and if Beams won't accept a trade to GC then his wanting to be with his sick father excuse falls flat on its face and shows him up to be a lying self absorbed little pr1ck.

They can't go after more than one player at a time? Also as a neutral due to greenwoods end of season and the apparent $$$ he has been offered i think 2 picks int he 20s is his true value. With more than 1 club interested and him not wanting to go to St Kilda in the ND i think thats close to what will be done....

Beams doesn't have a large enough personality or the capability to be a one man wrecking crew of morale. He's a follower in that area.
I think the 26&27 offer is the result of reporters exercising a bit of creative licence. Source inside the dogs was 26, cash and years similar to Collingwood.

And that's what I mean - A year in the club could go either way and I'm willing to take that chance with Beams. He's a class player but maybe he just isnt as mature as we thought he was, or at least I thought he was.

He's still only 24 I think and obviously mixed up with Heater which wouldnt be helping him mature as a person. That's a little rough I guess as I have no idea what Heater is like off field except for what's read in the court proceedings each week.

But I'm happy to have him around the club next year if we don't get a deal. Doesnt have to be traded IMO and then it's completely up to Beams if he wants to play football. He'll still be picked on form and if his form waivers than he plays magoos.

Looking at other trades around the place 5 & 28 is a long way off IMO and the club knows this.

How can the dogs use 25&26 on Greenwood, and then still get Lonergan?

They won't be using pick 5 on him that's for damned sure.

why are u on here going on about this???????????

Just interested re: what pies think greenwood is worth compared to beams value. Dont get me wrong beams is far far far better but i just wanted to know if a player states his preference what the supporters think the clubs strategy for getting it done is..

Apologies if ruffled feathers, just slow trade day i guess.

If he winds up staying with the club he may be about $400k worse off due to the difference in reported contract values.

Beams may need to compromise on his destination to get a deal done.
