I can win so many arguments now - you know when someone says some of my best friends are gay? I can say well my dad is gay and that will mean I owned them bad.

He told us all at dinner last night and I almost choked on my frozen peas. Mum must have known because she just looked at her glass of wine with a very wistful expression on her face.

There was a gay guy at my school. He was quite nice.

He spoke to me privately about it and tried to look really serious but all the time I was trying not to giggle as I pictured him snuggling up in bed to another hairy man.

He is staying in our house for the foreseeable future. I still love my Dad, I don't mind queer people, but I do worry about what other people might think, particularly around macho football.

So today is the first day that I am experiencing life as the son of a gay man.

Hats off to your folks for having some guts with how they went about it- it's the lies that cause cancer...
You are probably right to have concerns about reception in the football community- assault, infidelity with your best mate's wife, sexual assault/pack rape, hanging out with gangsters / murderers, drug addiction, drink-driving, bashing women, fraud and theft- all sorts of stuff football community is comfortable dealing with... coping with an individual's sexuality however- too hard.
There are plenty of gay footballers- who don't have the guts your folks do.

New nickname:

SO? - son of ....

If you're not mucking around you are taking it very well. Growing up i knew there was more chance of Richmond winning 10 flags in a row than of my old man being gay. I'd be shattered beyong shattered but good luck to you.

A mate of mine found out his dad was leaving his mum when he was 24. He moved in with a dude!

When you meet his boyfriend don't forget to ask who is the top, then think about that image for a while.

blah blah blah

So today is the first day that I am experiencing life as the son of a gay man.

Is that you Nigel?

OK some weird posts I guess but no I don't want a noose though I assume that was suggesting I want to hang myself rather than an erotic thing. Far from it.

Found it hard to focus today as you can imagine and I am uncertain whether to tell my friends or wait until I have reconciled myself to it fully. It is amazing how you can happily share thoughts with strangers in an internet forum.

Dad is not home yet. Mum is still upset because she is certain there is someone else. And I guess that makes sense otherwise why now? Maybe something else drove him to do it but I am not sure.

We eat together most nights but I know my sister does not really want to so she is going to stay at a friend's place and I sort of wish I had thought of it first because we can't both do it.

I might tell a mate tonight, but I am extremely nervous about it.

haha, another great thread on the general board, I gotta check this board out more often. :thumbsu:

Your dad is not Gay. Obviously not gay enough to have relations with a women and produce you. He is probably going through a mid-life crisis, I would seek him help.
