With this 50km a week of running thing, people here dont really think all we did for fitness was run 50km of laps at a good steady pace do they?

I think at this stage some people on here would be willing to believe that Poulos just had the players eat tubs of lard every day for the entire preseason if someone posted a rumour thread about it.

I must say, I find the whole "we're losing, therefore everyone at the club involved with the preparation of players has failed utterly" mentality very frustrating. Clearly some people have ****ed up badly. Is it the skills coaches? The fitness staff? The recruitment staff? The admin? Some combination of the above, perhaps?

The fact that we're losing doesn't necessarily mean that it's all of them.

I think the manner of our losing makes it reasonable to look at fitness, particularly as this was something that was identified as the reason for our poor performance last year.

I think people are also willing to hear a comment in a press conference and then hang on every word literally. Sando seems to speak in his pressers like it a normal conversation. Not a statement thats been carefully prepared.

I agree. I would like to see people actually looking at it though, rather than saying "we keep losing fourth quarters, therefore the fitness staff are incompetent" as the start and finish of analysis.

I get it, this is a forum of people who have no direct involvement with the club and it's not like we can do an investigation ourselves, but it's frustrating to read people definitively state that Poulos is incompetent when none of us here would really know. Questions should be raised, certainly, but conclusions are drawn all too readily on here, and then people use those "conclusions" to argue the next point, and so forth.

Our problems are largely the result of poor drafting (due to not having decent picks), key players leaving, and our avoidance of bottoming out.

We need to bottom out, draft Top 5 midfielders, and start again, and in the mean time dump the administration and the dead wood in the box.

It didn't take very long at all for it to become clear that Sando's words at press conferences (and media appearances) should be taken with a grain of salt. I can only assume he's not like this behind the scenes.

So on this, you're prepared to make an assumption and draw a conclusion?

Oh the shame, you forum dweller you ;-)

One thing is absolutely certain: there will NOT under any circumstances be an independent review of the football club. Too many things we don't want to come out.

If results continue they will find a way for a pseudo review to be done by an honourary member of the boys' club. Someone who is technically outside the club but is sympathetic to the cause.

I don't think anyone has suggested that their Bigfooty posted opinions should form the entire basis upon which the club should rely when making decisions.

Takes me back to late last year - Vlad had something to say about the Crows professionalism and openness during Tippettgate, compared to Essendons (justifying the sanctions), Chapman sternly responded, Vlad repeated his comments on another radio station... everything was firing up and what happened next...
Crows are going to get an Anzac Day game at Adelaide Oval in 2014.
...which later turned into a home game on the Anzac weekend
...which actually turned out to be an away game at Edihad Stadium against the Dogs.
Wow.
Lol. Chappy sure showed Vlad didnt he now. Our Admin is down right parthetic.

What was the result of our review conducted by that Deloitte guy on our board?

He "psyched out" the players? Jesus Christ. If all it takes for our players to crumble into a heap is for the coach to describe the opposition as being top shelf, then we may as well sack all 50-odd players and look for replacement at pick 200.
You don't tell young lists how hard something is like he did when your on top of your coaching game. . You don't say port have a midfield as good as any when they have a mid table one..

Crap, as if the players themselves don't know how good or bad their likely opponents on the day are???

Give the coach and players some credit for having a brain and reasonable intelligence at least!!

To look at it. Not to decree that this is this and that, indeed, that, on the basis of crude information.

There's an entire industry based on it that just about pays for the game as we know it.

There was an entire industry for pro-segregation newspapers and the production of signs reading "coloured only" in the United States several years back too.

You, like your silly mates, have real trouble divorcing something's existence from its merit (or lack thereof).

Yes, sensible discussions are limited by the information available.

Does this need reposting in every thread?

My guess is they would know better than most, particularly when it comes to their direct opponents, and the same goes double for those playing defensive roles.

It's an acceptable form of discussion to declare an opinion and offer a solution on the basis of said opinion.

I would offer that the reason we don't see aforementioned "coloured only" signs anymore is exactly because of robust discussion and debate, as I have described.

Or would you have us all fill this forum with "waaaah, our club sucks, fix it someone!"
