MightyHawks, it's not as simple as win-loss ratio right now. We just snuck over the line against Brisbane, beat Gold Coast (wasn't convincing until the last 10 minutes) and somehow drew against Sydney. We got smashed by a good Hawthorn side, and smashed by a decent West Coast side.

We are showing many symptoms that we've shown over the past couple of years, but they don't seem to be addressed. In fact they are getting worse. Our starts are terrible. We probably trail at the 10 minute mark 90% of the time. And we're usually down at quarter time. Our kick in strategy is basic and easy to counter. We apply very little pressure around the ground, instead making our defenders soak it all up. The inside 50 differentials are usually totally against us. We don't have a good forward structure. We can't stop an avalanche (Hawks 3rd quarter, Eagles 1st quarter). If Jamar doesn't hit to Moloney, we don't win a clearance. Our interstate record west of Victoria is absolutely disgusting. Haven't won in WA since 2004. Haven't won in SA since 2001. Haven't even got within 8-9 goals in SA for about 8 years.

Having a young list can't be used as an excuse every time. They are talented young players and will improve over time, but without a good coaching structure they will not become premiership players.

Thats right credibility comes with a post count

Just because a lot of other coaches have adopted the boundary thing doesn't make it right. Especially when our weakness is game day coaching as far as our zone set ups, kicking out strategy, clearances etc etc.

Some here are right, whilst 4pt is 4pts its hardly been an impressive start.

Sure the kids need teaching but is the 2 mins on the bench during game time the best time to do it:confused: When are we going to see any change during games to fix the holes left, easy possessions out of our forward 50, our kick out strategy change, our clearances improve? Some of us just don't like Bailey, whats hard to get? Coaches play a role now more than ever in the modern game and its easy to question players run and commitment if they don't cover players but the game plan dictates a lot of the play and spacing.

Bailey is a poor game day coach and tactician imo. This isn't a new problem, it was even worse when we had less talent running around. Its not time to give him the boot yet but surely we can expect some improvement from the football department.

Im going to agree with MightyHawks here - i think with us being non melbourne fans we can be a tad unemotional.

Every club has supporters that want to rant when things aret so rosy and carry away when the emtions are high - doing that on facebook is no different then starting it on a forum. My teams supporters have no doubt and we wont be the last trust me.

the AFL are only 4 rounds in and you do have 2-2 win/loss record which as a lions fan I would right now take that any day of the week and twice on Sundays!!!!! Look at this way hawthorn & Sydney were in the finals and you lost and drew one, bet teams you should of and lost to WC in Perth where you havent won since 2004 I think - dont forget Collingwood still have trouble with the lions (and you lot to a lesser extent) even in their dominat year so its not like your the only club to have a bogy team. Sure its not perfect but only collingwood and geelong has it perfect to this point.

Yes you cant use the kids line as an excuse all the time BUT like it or lump it having a young group will give you jekle and hyde results - thats happend in sport since Adam wore dipers so you need to suck that part of it up.

I think IF by then end of the year there is no improvement then fine have a look at Dean Bailey and the coaching staff. Now is not the time for the club to panic.

For once we agree on something Bigsexc:thumbsu:

Bailey deserves this season. We improved last season and if we finish 8th or even 9th this season he has done his job. Young teams will produce inconsistent results. Young supporters will have knee jerk reactions to such performances and do stupid things like set up Facebook pages calling for Bailey's head.

The Eagles are a good team this year and they played better football than us on the day. End of story.

****ing embarrassing, whoever made that group should be ashamed

we aren't playing well, yes, this is a development year... right

that was an absolutely shit performance but as 'mumbles' craig said about adelaide, "as a young group we can't dish up consistent performances, which is why people will get frustrated and why we will play like we did last week (port)''

this WILL be a frustrating year, get used to it

bailey deserves nothing, hes stike rate is deplorable, i cant fathom how fans still defend the loser, were going thru the same pathetic shit the bombers went thru last season, the sooner that losers shown the door the better.

I'm not sure why there's such a call for Dean Bailey's head.

Don't worry, we have Hawk posters on our board calling for Clarko's head because we lost a close match to the Cats.

But with Melbourne,

You've played 5 matches. And you are 2 wins and a draw.

Drew with Sydney who played finals last year.

Lost to Hawthorn who played finals last year.

Beat Brisbane and Gold Coast who you were expected to beat.

Lost to West Coast in Perth who no one gave you much of a chance. The Eagles form has been pretty good with 3 wins and narrow losses to Hawthorn and Sydney.

It's not like Melbourne have been at full strength either.

You've got 3 winnable matches coming up. Win 2 or 3 of them and you'll be well placed.

Where did Melbourne fans expect to be placed after Round 6?

We have not played good football. At moments against Sydney and Brisbane we were getting absolutely killed. No team is as up and down as this team. It's a frustrating thing to watch.
