Traded Devon Smith [traded to Essendon]

So in the last 10yrs you have traded in Cooney (totally cooked),Bird (free to a good home), Stewart (about to be a DFA) and Williams (cooked). That is your argument that EFC aren't bad to deal with?

We will all watch with interest on how this years deals go.

Everyone of those deals had this exact same reaction. Either:

"Essendon are impossible to deal with, we'll get him for nothing in the PSD"

Or

"Essendon are impossible to deal with, he'll end up going to another club who'll swoop in with another deal"

Bla bla, circle jerk, weeks on end, then trade happens as it was always going to.

You guys don't learn.

Or
Why would you go and trade in that guy?

Most of Essendon's clearances come from Hepp, ZMerrett or Parish, we also have McGrath whose ball handling skills are silky smooth, so much so his response times often catch his team mates out and some of Goodard's best work in 2017 was when he was around the contest.

Adding Stringer, Smith and Saad adds speed (which is the real problem) and the ability to hit the scoreboard from the 50m arc, something which was lacking at times this year.

Essendon remind me a bit of us. There are quick players in the team but they aren't in the middle.

Plenty of pace in the Essendon forward line already, and none of the 3 S's above are permanent mids. Maybe the plan is for Devon Smith to get more midfield time.

No one thinks you can't get players out. It's the getting them in is the question mark. Cooney lol. Fair play on Stewart I guess but he wasn't exactly a hgihly sought franchise player.

Anyway, looking forward to watching the Dodo majesty. Always entertaining.
needs to accept pick 11 is gone.

In my mind these trades should be fairly easy.
11 for Stringer and 25
25 for smith and a swap of some 2018 picks (2nd round perhaps)
28 for Saad.

What do Essendon fans think of trading picks 11 & 28 for BL picks 18 & 19? Assuming pick 19 is what we get for Rocky compensation.
Then use picks 18 and 19 for Stringer & Smith.

Not horrible. Would do that I think. I'm willing to accept this years draft we basically get not a lot of youngens through. Next year is being hailed as a superdraft so I'm really hesitant to give up any future picks.

I would say 11 for Stringer
2018 1st rounders for Smith
Pick in the 20’s for Saad

Done well (at this very early point) with 3 gun players nominating them.

Going to have a strong squad next year if all three go through.

No club would give up a first rounder for Smith.
We will see how it goes.

Its obviously not a straight swap for the 1st.

You guys have come to late for the firesales though.
