I'll take WB to beat SMD. SMD have been in great form and have done a great job getting to finals given their start, but WB clearly been 3rd best side all year and will stick with that.

SMS to beat OYC and lock in promotion. Form suggests they'd be favourites and if the Hall rumours are true it's a blow to OY. Also noticed Chipman didn't play Vs MHSOB, potentially rested though.

SMS coming off 2 losses in a row up against the districts who havent lost a game since Rd 12 - to SMS!

Should be a good game.

What happened with the late SMS point today? Gettable?

Watched the OYC vs SMS game today at Preston - no Hall (huge out for them with his goalkicking) for OYC and looked to be full team for SMS. SMS looked cleaner and faster in the first half - OYC turned the ball over a heap particularly the 45 kick toward the middle - they looked fumbly and just didn’t link well. Thought SMS would kick on in the second half but OYC started to put more pressure on and they turned the tables - SMS started to cough it up and they started to look tired - that SMS leg speed (they are a quicker side i think) began to even up.
Game was close all the way and almost goal for goal to the end- OYC missed some chances to goal late and a crucial turnover with about a minute to go nearly cost them as SMS ran forward and missed a late chance. Siren went with ball in SMS forward line.

SMS rucks dominated but it looked like the OYC mids defended ok in middle and at stoppage. SMS had some slippery forwards and their bigger guys took some ok grabs. OYC defenders had a busy day fending off the attacks and their best player was Lesko who took a few nice catches on the lead.

SMS play South Melbourne next week and a lot will depend on their state of mind - I think South will have a real crack and SMS will need to get themselves back up again after today.

OYC get a break which will help any injuries but momentum sometimes makes a difference ! Without Hall I’m not sure who kicks their goals. Their next best goalkicker (Tolykatian?) was really quiet in a low scoring game.

Surprisingly little chat on here considering the pointy end of the season is here.

Prelim final: think SMS should do it. They and OYC were a clear class above from the halfway point of the season. In normal conditions I would tip SMS by 5 goals. Given the dire weather forecast (strong winds, heavy rain, possible large hail and a potential thunderstorm) will go with SMS by 10pts.

Good luck to everyone at Elsternwick if the forecast is right.

I'll have the same, clear tier above the pack all year so theyve earned the right to be favourites.

That being said I haven't seen SMD in recent times and their hot streak has been impressive, with conditions the way they are could be anyone's game!

8 goal last quarter after only kicking 5 to 3 qtr time. All wind or did the dam wall just break? Interested to hear how it played out from anyone that was there, SMD park the bus and fail or try to keep attacking and got exposed?

Wind played a factor, but I think we defended it better than them when they had it mostly. It was a good game.

Well done, club looks to be a different beast from 2023, where I think even you can admit you were lucky to stay in D2 after division restructuring saved you from a double drop.

U19s/3rds as a combo especially is a huge effort to get up, given the climate on numbers these days (committed numbers/injuries/OS travel).

Should be a cracker this weekend. Would not be surprised to see extra time. Any injuries to report from what would've been a bruising encounter against SMD, which late season turnaround was huge.
