Do We want Josh Fraser

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I ahve been going to Collingwood games with a mate on a regular basis over the last 3 years - he now refuses to go if I continiue to BAG Josh.

Luckily he's been injured this year which has made the footy days better.

Seriously worst ruckman I have seen, and is nota KP A.......E

There is a very very very good reason Collingwood wants to trade a 23 year old ruckman touted as its Franchise player and future captain - heed the warning!!!!

as per usual your going in too hard boots and all. I'd be interested if Fraser was available.

Plenty of talent, and in a team that could afford the luxury to use him to best advantage he could still be a very, very good player.

Given NC's record with lesser talents, lets give him something of real pedigree to play with. Josh has certainly disappointed at times, but he is blue chip stock nonetheless.

I don't think Fraser is a great knock ruckman, but he is athletic and can play up forward and kick goals.

People have short memories. Between 2001-2004, Fraser would have been in the Pies' best 5 players - EASY, And we are talking about 2 Grand Final years here. And to boot, the bloke is only 23. Still very young in ruck terms.

Providing his body is in good shape, he would be a definite asset to any side.

Do we get him, if we can (which I strongly doubt anyway)?

I'm not sure, our ruck stocks are OK and I'd rather use the Watts trade to get a high draft pick. So, I guess my answer is no, even though I rate him.

If we had to trade Watts for a player I would rather Fraser than Motlop. However, playing him in the ruck is a waste IMO. Play him as a premanent forward and he could be quite dangerous.

Agree and would be a good addition to the AFC forward line. IMO

We're pretty dumb and all, but why on Earth would we trade a player who's had a year off with injuries and is underrated even when he's fully fit??

Rucci reads these boards. If he didn't, I'd probably go off tap and say something like he's a ****** ****** who is probably just ***** **** ** to sell papers!!

Fergus might be a good player, but we're kinda in the market for midfielders. Might be news to the ignorant!

i havent been impressed with who was going the be the next big thing when he was #1 draft pick.
Having said that, let me say this. He would be a handy backup if we loose the doc and as others have said he is handy up front kicking goals.

Im in two minds with him but yes if it came to the crunch.

I thought your in the market for at least 22 new players.

I agree with Fraser over Motlop ... but I would prefer to trade Watts for a quality midfielder. I can't see how either is going to add too much to our existing forward line, when we really lack crumbers or a quality go-to player.

By all reports Clarke will play on next year so I wouldn't be all too thrilled with getting Fraser.

I am not all too interested in him to be honest. We are already pretty set with ruckman. If as expected, Clarke plays on then we will have 2 ruckman in Clarke and Biglands to lead us next year and give a bit more time to Meesen, Maric and Griffin. I don't expect anything from Huddo next year.

As others said, I would rather trade Watts for Fraser than for Motlop. I think someone like Mick Redden can help him with his actual ruckwork and I think Craig could get the best out of him. He is a handy forward no doubt, but not someone that you would build the forward line around.

Not all that thrilled with this but if we can't get anything better for Watts then I would take this deal.

Rest assured all if we did pick up Josh - you would all regret it - most over hyped, underperformed player ever.

If you think S. Stevens was a mistake - then hold the press.

Cro Mo these comments are not ill informed - because of the number of Collingwood games I see live and the close scrutiny I have been undertaking with Josh - he makes me cringe!

wayne what has made you think he would come here? Collingwood dont have any ruck options themselves. And i agree fraser is a dud, he showed signs but has not been able to develop his body enough to play at a higher level. Considering we have meeson and maric in the wings we wouldnt want him anyway.

I've always regarded him as a dud WW.

It'd be almost like getting a junior Ben Marsh, although a slightly better version.

One of the most un-exciting prospects I could think of really.

I'm not for one minute endorsing that we go after Fraser, but to mention him in the same breath as Ben Marsh or Scott Stevens (see Wayne's World's comments) is a complete insult to him.

I know stats don't mean everything, but c'mon guys...you've gotta' be Josh-ing!

Fraser, 23, 113 games, averages 13 disp, 4 mks, 1 goal
S.Stevens, 23, 38 games, 7-2-1
Marsh, retired at 28, 55 games, 6-2-0

Still, one man's meat is another man's poison.

GFA to see the strange irony in that comment? - rest my case ;)

Not disputing the stats - but stats v gametime??

He is better than the two you mention - but i'll restate - If Collingwood (2nd to bottom) with no ruck stocks are contemplating dgetting rid of a 200cm player when they are as rare as....... then ask yourself why

If they are contemplating trading him, then it would probably be due to his fitness problems.

No - can't find a position for him

Not a good ruckman - average mark - not strong enough for KP - average heart - not quick enough for midfield/wing role

What do you do with someone who doesn't quiet fit in

Looks at S Stevens stats. It amazes me some on here still rate him as a potentially good depth player. Add into the package he's as soft as butter, and you have a definite delisting for 2006. A guy who should never have been recruited in the first place. I would much preferred to have taken a risk on a kid.
