Guys I know the Mitch Clark thing has been discussed to death, and I know its been touched on in a few of the threads but I really feel that we have dodged a bullet by not getting him. As I have stated before I went to the Doig medal, and we have all heard the message that Freo is conveying. Its time to get serious. We will not be held to ransom by any player or any club. No player is bigger than the club and we play football to win Premierships.
Mitch Cark was the first test of that resolve. In previous years we would have given up any thing to get him,not anymore. The club comes first.
Can you imagine the reaction of the playing group if we had met his demands? Paying him more than Pav and Sandi?
There are 2 clubs that should feel betrayed, Brisbane and Freo. Clark told brisbane the only reason for him leaving was family, otherwise he would have stayed. As Tom Rockliff tweeted "It appears money cures all!"Clark then told Fremantle he was commited to them no matter what. We do not want a player like this at the club. We only want players that are comitted to the cause!
All these headline about the "Great Coup" of Melbourne is an absolute joke! Paying a bloke who has had 1 year of good footy that much money is embarassing! We will look at moments like these in years to come and silently mutter one thing "Thankyou Chris Bond".
