Does Murphy get to 300?

Storm in a teacup. Just a number.
All that matters to me , is he really fit enough to play? and not seen much signs he is. Strange way to use medical sub to pick a player not able to really play 100% but you using it to help him get to the 300 mark. Going to be weird if he plays his 300th as medical sub and does not come on field at all, if no player is injured.
Could be worse, Doug Hawkins finishes his career at Fitzroy. Carey at Crows, Modra at Fremantle etc etc.
A lot of good players do not go out in ideal fashion. Some just play out their days in reserves like a Terry Daniher or Rod Ashman. Decades later we do not lose any sleep that the end was not going out in blaze of glory.

Teague has to play him this week, otherwise next week Clarko will strand him on 299...
I love Murphy and his contribution to the club shouldn't be questioned over his career as a collective (say what you want about the last few years). But there's a high degree of certainty about Murphy raising the bat at 300 then retiring.

Can't see more than 1 of Casboult/Eddie/Murph playing on next year. It'll be a new era in 2022.

I'd be surprised if any of those three are on the list next season. I suspect E.Curnow gone as well.

AFL supporters will be questioniong what’s a legit milestone and what isn’t from now on and Marc is the big one already. He will play his 300th this weekend in official records but as we all know, he will only have appeared in 299 games. In fact the only way that the milestone doesn’t get debated about in future years is if Marc is in the 22 for the final two rounds.

IMO, a game played should have only been added if a medical sub gets on and plays during the game even in the final minute of the game, but not if the medical sub is unused. Leaves a lot of debate and could possibly ruin it for the player in question.

Interesting one with Ed.
Charlie couldn’t thank Teaguey enough for assisting his rehabbing/support. Both gone, where does that leave his alliances?

Murphy retired hurt on 300. Hopefully with Eddie notching up his 350. That’s it for the big milestones for a while.

Medical sub has just been a farce overall. Was never needed when you got four players on bench for injuries already.

Agree 4 substitutes on the bench is ample, especially given the amount of rotations allowed too.
The AFL enjoy over policing and introducing snap regulations any time.
Our game is over regulated, to the point I reckon our casual/ part time umpires are confused half the time.

A new head coach will want a clean slate to choose his list and who he wants returning of the players looking for a new contract and that’s why any media reporting of say Betts getting a new deal (as there was last week) is most likely false. If Clarko or Ross is the new coach, they will have a say on Levi, Murphy, Ed Curnow and Betts.

still very fit. Effort is still there. I’m sure Ed curnow will make the right decision for himself and the club. He comes across as an honest hard working type.
There has never been an issue with his fitness or his effort and i suspect he trains well and is a great bloke to have around the club but he isnt a great footballer.

I guess we will see if the club interested in making hard decisions in the interest of being more competitive.

It is not an Ed decision if he plays on.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I would definitely retain Ed for another year. I think in a well coached system, used to his strengths, he's easily got more to give.

You have to assume they told him he'd be getting to 300 via the medical sub. Have to also assume he agreed to it. Looks like he's not enjoying it, but he could've just said no.

Absolutely hate the way this has played out for all involved.
I agree it’s a joke and something I’ve been quite opposed to, but the Hawks have also carried Burgoyne as the sub to get him to 400.

Nothing wrong with that. Ed deserves another year. Betts, Murphy and Levi are done.
