Ever wonder what it would be like to be the sin of a famous person?
A very, very famous person?
What would you do to get out of the shadow of such a man?
Maybe get a tat? Or two...... or a hundred!

The Chinese are now claiming that the coronavirus was sent to Wuhan by the American military!! So it has nothing to do with their predilection for illegally trading in precious wildlife. Not my favourite country, I'm afraid.
Blame pointing like that has me questioning the merits of earlier rumours about the virus escaping from a Chinese (Wuhan) biowarfare lab.

Don't tar the people because of what the govt says mate.
I've been to China on many occasions and find the people to be lovely.
Probably my fav place to visit just because of how friendly the people are.

I have a huge problem with their treatment of animals and it is based on lots of research and experience. I would not want to be a dog in China or a wild animal trafficked into the country - like the pangolin that is reputed to be the link between the bats and the virus. I don't like the government and the people might be friendly, but torturing millions of dogs and other animals to death to improve the taste of meat does not appeal to the animal lover in me. Sorry, but we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

They do eat everyting. No discrimination at all. Dog, cat cow pig doesn't seem to matter to them

It's not so much what they eat (except wild, often heavily threatened animals used for food and 'medicines' which is unacceptable), but the way they kill them (particularly dogs) and the way they eat many animals (boiling and skinning dogs alive, scooping monkeys brains from live animals, carving limbs off live animals, eating live fish etc) that I find particularly upsetting. Other countries in the region also consume dogs and wild animals, but not in the vast numbers or with the same fixation on inflicting pain and suffering on the animal as is all too common in China, particularly in the south.

We are not immune to the ill treatment of animals either as anyone who saw the ABC expose of the killing of ex racehorses in Australia can testify. I am not a vegan but often wished I could bring myself to giving up the eating of meat to be truly consistent with my beliefs and principles. There are activist groups in China seeking to change the situation for animals in that country. These groups get no government support or even international funding, and operate under very dangerous conditions. Growing affluence in the country has resulted in increased pet ownership and may eventually help bring about a change in attitude to the treatment of animals. Perhaps the outbreak of the coronavirus will also help to change attitudes - the government has banned the trade in wildlife but powerful syndicates control this trade and it seems more likely to become a thriving black market activity in the unlikely event that the ban is adhered to throughout the country.

I don't wish to belittle your own positive experiences with Chinese people and agree that it can be a very beautiful country in which to travel. But the government and its people have to take responsibility for the outbreak of this virus.

Don't disagree with any of that.
I'm not an apoligist for thier treatment of animals.
By the way it's lunchtime here. Thanks for putting me off my food with all your talk about scooping monkey brains and boiling live animals.
Basterd!!!

Sorry. I have previously avoided giving details of things I personally also find upsetting. If you hadn't quoted me I would have happily deleted my post to avoid upsetting others. Unfortunately through my Facebook links with animal welfare groups in the south east Asian region I get exposed to many videos, photos and accounts which I am really too squeamish to view or read. I don't really want to subject big footy fans to details they would prefer not to know.

It's all good, the last bit of my post was a bit tongue in cheek.
Nothing puts Otto off his nice Doner Kebab sandwich

You are indeed blessed with a wonderful choice of foods in Turkey. Certainly sounds more edible than the 7/11 sandwich and sausage roll I had for lunch.

Good luck to him mate,he deserves a change of fortune keep us posted on how he is going.
Had his first hit out today since he got injured last year, a pre season scratch match against Pinjarra Football club.
Rusty AF but got some touch and survived in tack. Was awesome to see him play pain free and have a good run. Coach played him the whole game forward pocket which was ideal for him to get some touch. Stoked to see him out there playing and completing the game full of run, things looking good for the upcoming season. Will keep you all posted on how he is progressing, just so pleased how the local footy network here is so diligent with his rehab and the care everyone has shown him.
I was so nervous watching this first run, the smile on his face after the game was insane.
Was a huge step forward for the boy, happy, happy dad.

The only way all this will be stopped.

Don’t really care where it comes from, just get it done.
Big bucks to be had though.

My dad is still battling away with pls mnd.. so I'm basically shitting myself to be honest.

Once they get it done.. make the damn thing mandatory. I still think itll linger around though.

At coles Burwood earlier today, the check out chick told me to be careful in the car park as apparently people had been robbed of their purchases, particularly elderly and disabled customers. People have turned into animals.
In my block of apartments on the digital newsletter, one resident has volunteered her services to people who have to self isolate - shopping and other external requirements. So I know of at least one selfless person. I am becoming a professional shopper, visiting multiple supermarkets to get only a part of my normal order. The situation is ridiculous. I would like a profile of the average panic buyer so I can begin to understand what seems to have changed in the Australian character.

It’s nice to hear there’s still some good guys around.

Your right they force you to behave the same way, your forced to buy things you don’t need right now because you don’t know if they’ll be available when you do need them.

My wife had a pack of T.P. put aside for her, for my parents, yesterday.
She put it into a big, black plastic garbage bag to take to the register then to her car.
She knows what is happening.
The world has reverted to our gatherer hunter caveman roots.
