Does anybody know the real recipe for the good stuff? The one that you can smell from about 50 metres and it's potent enough to make your eyes water at close range? The one that if it soaks into your jocks you have to walk around on your toes?

“The key to it is Gill could decide that North deserves PP No.3 despite Laura Kane’s recommendations.”

from 6:50 in

Is there a chance that the AFL knows that we really should get a start of first round pick (let's say 4 behind Mackay compo) and the strategy is that Laura Kane recommends back end of first round and then is 'overridden' by Gil so that she isn't accused or helping her old club?

As annoying as the AFL is... I think they know that picks at the back end of round 1 are too 'hit and miss'. We (and the AFL) need the talent that comes in to be a more 'sure thing'.

It's pick 4 or yes.....

..... I will f****ing melt! 😆

That wont happen. The AFL does not want to look bad having selected her . More likely what she decides will be a given..

I’d like to believe that the AFL will give us a good level of assistance.
In some ways I’d also like to believe in the following:
Leprechauns, North having a quality small forward, and in the existence of a free and balanced media. The former is seemingly more likely.
This clip sprang to mind when thinking about the assistance package and the potential reactions to it on here (me included 😁):

I don’t really care what we get, you ‘deserve’ nothing for being incompetent.

Just get on and fix it.

This times a million. We've lost a bit of that "fk the afl, we'll do it ourselves" attitude that has gotten rhe club through some pretty tough times.

If we get XYZ then great. Expecting it and thinking we're getting screwed if we don't get Gold Coast level concessions is defeatist though

Except Gil doesn't decide. It's the Commission that decides based on AFL executive recommendations.
True, but the recommendation is presented to the board by Gil, isn't it?

Then there'll be debate, and if there's any change from the recommendation, it'll be worked out during the meeting by the Commission in conjunction with Gil.

No doubt he'll be an active player here.

I can see it now, Gil reading out the North compo details: The AFL commision believed that the North Melbourne Football Club should be entitled to a range of compensation picks, including one immediately following their natural first round pick, plus pick 11 and pick 19 this year, the pre-selection of Saunders and two additional first round picks next year which would be 11 and 19, however out of respect for Laura, we agree that only pick 19 for this year will be offered, contingent on trading it to the West Coast Eagles for a future second round pick or forfeited.

I wonder if anyone a little cleverer than me could work out the draft points value that has been awarded to each club in priority picks over the years. Would be good to get the same value for each club's father sons, academies etc and see who has benefited the most.

It's basically this: Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.

Gil doesn't need to award pick 4.

He just needs to award pick 11.

I think most North fans would be fine with anything that involves pick 11 this year.

Award 3 picks, 2 of which are futures seems completely devoid of logic to get someone better instantly.

I really fail to see how we've gone from journo's being confident of Sanders prelisting - > Sanders Bidding Access -> Pick 11 -> Pick 19

All the while we applied for Pick 3. That is a huge difference.
