And Ben Jacobs would probably still be playing if he hadn't gotten a weird head illness, Jed Anderson's vaccine stuff, the unprecedented circumstance of finishing bottom 2 3 years in a row in a period where the best player was tied to other clubs though the Father/Son rule and the academy system (the same one that we're absolutely insane and ridiculous for wanting to use to get Ryley Sanders).

And going back even further, it's not being able to put the finishing touches on a list build because we happened to be doing it in a period where the AFL decided it needed to get two new clubs off the ground. Picks that would've netted us a top 8 prospect in the past were spent on shakier ones like Shaun Atley and Brad McKenzie and the knock-on effect made it even harder to find late pick gems. As a result, we were forced to top up with older and more injury prone players to have any chance of a crack at a flag, then when that fell short, instead of committing to a rebuild the Bard's regime decided to top up again on even older and more injury prone players than last time, which put us in the pit we're currently in. And, you know, maybe we wouldn't need such a big assistance package this year if that same prick hadn't given us next to nothing when we were historically bad and he had an obvious conflict of interest due to being courted by Essendon.

mate i wish i had your optimism.
the only thing we're scaring at the moment is the wood polisher at the Trevor O'Hoy Family clubrooms, due to the rate at which the spoons are accumulating.
we were a huge disappointment this yr vs talent at our disposal, havent seen anything but glimpses of potential, no where near enough to crack a semi.

I saw enough this year to see improvement. Fitness was a massive issue and was addressed why during QnA sessions. This pre season they are starting earlier and going harder. Take these picks because we aren’t going to be needing em any time soon.

Not surprised by this at all. They are usually the ones receiving gifts from the AFL so they are just confused.
 
I think there are supporters of some clubs who are not looking at our dire record over 4 seasons but instead, they are looking at our team and how we match up against their team, and they don't want to see us adding another 4x first round picks to our list in a few weeks time. That has to be a concerning proposition to Sydney, Essendon, and StKilda supporters in particular.

Outside of the teams that have one triple or double Flags, there is no joy

Richmond, Hawthorn, Geelong, Lions, Swans, Eagles…where was the joy in watching their dominance from our Pov?

Zero

The expectation we have been brought to believe in theory is that all Teams get a turn when in practice the opposite has happened with the outliers being the exception

So no one wants the potential of having North dominate in 4 years time, except us. We want it because we’ve endured 24 years of disappointment
