We have just 10 players including Hansen @ 191cm or over

17 players between 185 - 190cm including Brett jones, stevenson

11 players under 185cm

numbers don't include Mckinley or Spangher

There is a need to draft talls

Lynch is an awful ruckman. He doesn't get a tap, is almost as useless once the ball hits the ground and will never be better than Cox, even in the state Cox was at the start of the year.

If the Eagles are worried about Cox's longevity, play him as backup to Naitanui with forward 30%, onball 30%, and the rest on the bench. Or even use Coxy as the sub for the first half and bring him on in the 2nd. Dont feel the need for 5 ruckman or to even have Lynch on the list. Bring in a capable rookie as 3rd string ruckman and drop Lynch ;)

Matt Rendell just said that Griffin wants to return home to WA.

Thats been known for weeks...they're talking about the ruckman from Adelaide btw

West Coast never seem to do anything during trade week it's really frustrating. Disappointed we didnt make a play for Hill, looks like the Hawks have snapped him up and no doubt cheaply. Everitt and even Tambling another 2 I think we should have made a play for.

What would you give up for these two?

We can't force players to the club, its not to say we didn't enquire just the players have their preferences- Tamling wanted to go to Adelaide, hill wanted to stay in Melb.

There have been a couple of media reports that we're not interested. At his age and given his inconsistency I reckon we're better off taking a punt on a high risk/high reward youngster in PSD.

I'd doubt we would take him for nothing, let alone giving something for him. Far too old, inconsistent, no reason we'd be looking at him....imo.

I think Adelaide was for some reason dead keen to get Tambling, that's why he went there....He would have gone where ever there was strong interest, $ and a chance for consistent selection. Hill the same.

You are obviously a strong supporter of trading - i'm not.

Everitt was taken by swapping another young highly rated young player - eagles would have had to part with a masten, ebert... type of player.

All the other players you mentioned are not quality players so why you want the Eagles to part with valuable draft picks is beyond me.

Supporters love trade week but its not where premierships are formed... That is in draft week.

Any idea if we may try get a mature age pick with one of our later picks in the draft eg pick 45. Assuming Pick 62 will go for Brennan.
I noticed Freo have done a deal getting Peter Faulks as a mature age pick.
How does this sound?
First 3 picks on youngsters.
Pick 45 Isac Smith (Quick tall wingman)Sounds promising.
Pick 62 Brennan.

Going to have to lose some more players as currently we only have 3 picks plus brennan and no room for Stevenson.

We have to workout how deep we want to go in the draft - it seems pretty good but the last few years we have stop after 3 picks

We could still lose Bones, Hansen, Stevenson and have 5 picks plus brennan which depending on trades could see us picking at 62 which is a little deep but if we upgrade 62 to 50 it might be worth releasing Stevenson and taking a draftee?
actually I am thinking if we get pick upgrade from 62 to 54 the Brennan could be taken with pick 79 which nobody will complain about

Sydney IMO Have realised early that he isnt going to end up the player they hoped and traded him while he had value. Makes me hope even more that Masten and Ebert make it...

I dont want to think we missed a chance like we did not trading Kerr in 08 and not tanking in 09...

I don`t think it would be a masten or ebert types but maybe houlihan, jones types of players that have been on the list for 3 yrs or more and struggled to get a game, be it injuries or slow developing

How about we do a freo and ring up bluey, swap pick 26 for 27 with GC and get a mature age player that we want for free without using a pick :D I vote for issac smith.

the differance between pick 26 and 27 could end up quite large.

I dont want to touch 26 or 28 unless its upgrading it. do whatever you want with 45

Aye, 28 could end up being 32 which doesn't sound quite as good. Even if its for saint kilda's pick 24 if we aren't going to use picks like 45 in the draft then trying to package them to upgrade picks even 1-2 places is a good idea.

Personally think it will significantly help us. A lot of our young midfielders and players are very much endurance athletes. Also cue the big q stick as our substitute all the time. Naita to go hard for 60% of the match then the Q to come on and relieve cox in the ruck/provide an option up forward. This isn't necessarily what i want but i can definitely see it happening. Only hope would be that any of your emergencies could be listed as substitutes but with the ability to only bring 1 on.

the big q is an ideal candidate as a sub as he can fill many a role - only trouble is - if he isnt playing a full match it wont do any good for his tank

Thanks for the reply.
I,m still not sold on Stevenson but I hope he does make it but it seems we have a couple of players who take his position ie Shepherd,Hurn and Smith who all have decent kicks as well.Maybe play him off a wing?
I just hope we keep our first 3 picks at least.

Earlier on Friday, North traded ruckman David Hale to Hawthorn in exchange for the Hawks' end-of-round-one compensation selection and pick 71.

The Hawks also received pick 52.

Scott said the club was likely to use the compensation pick in this year's draft, even though it could be held until 2014.

Its other selections are at 17 and 35.

The McKinley article.

This particular extract suggests we no longer have pick 28, it'll be pushed back.

I still hope we draft Heppell, but would be happy with Gaff or Polec. Really happy it seems to be between these 3 now.

I think we'll select Gaff, it just seems as though were set on selecting him. No complaints about it, he'll definitely be a very good player :thumbsu:
Reminds me a lot of a skinny Dane Swan. Probably better skills though.

what do all you guys hope for with pick #4? It seems that Heppell & Gaff are firming as the 2 top players outside of GC's 3 first picks. I love both these players and find it hard to pick between the 2. But I feel the Lions need young mids more then the eagles so kinda hope we get Gaff.

Either way both clubs will do very well with these picks

I reckon you guys want Gaff bad and hence the pick upgrade to 5.

I have always said he reminds me of Dal Santo, but others reckon Power and he could be mix between Black and Power which are both in their twilight so a good fit for you guys.

Geez Josh Green looks bloody amazing!

Kicked a couple freakish goals and showed great pace and skills in the draft combine video. Seems exactly what we need, hasn't been mentioned in the top25 much at all, would be stoked if we nabbed him with pick26:thumbsu: And afterall, everyone says you need a tasmanian and a ranga in order to be a successful club, with Green we'd be getting both:D

After going over Heppell and Gaff again, I'm really excited were getting one of them. Will both be stars for their respective clubs, I'd be very happy either way.
