Yes I do .

I remember hearing about three weeks out from the draft that WC were going to take Weedon and I must say that the news surprised me as I did not rate him at the 22/23 mark. My dissapointment of selecting Weedon come draft day was negated by the fact I was over the moon that Koby Stevens had landed at the Eagles. And yes I felt Weedon was at best a 30+ draft selection. I was told that Collingwood had looked at him @ 30 but that was before Ball became available.. the rest is history.

As a Claremont supporter I had seen both him and Colyer play and I rated Colyer much, much higher. We needed an injection of raw pace and I still believe that Colyer would have been a very good pick up. I also watched Weedon play at the championship and was not that impressed. I still think that both Colyer and Mitch Duncan would have been a better selection @ 22.

That aside he is an Eagle now and I want Weedon to be a success and make it .. but thus far I still have my doubts. I hope I am wrong and I will be the first to put my hand up and admit that I was wrong... in fact I would be wraped if I had to do that as it would mean that the selection had been vindicated.

I also rated Black , Carlisle, Duncan, Bartlett and Crichton as being much better players than Weedon.

I can assure you that I am not just saying so with the benefit of hindsight as swannies and I had some long conversations on the matter.

We were both dissapointed that Black and Duncan slipped through our clutches.

Fair enough. I don't claim to be very knowledgable with regards to potential draftee's, but I too was disappointed when we passed up on more highly touted players such as Colyer to draft Weedon.

Having said that, the more I've seen of him the more impressed I am. His inside work is fantastic the way he finds space and releases players, and he's a very smooth mover on the outside

Hamp has the exact same build as Swift.

If you're one of those worried about Darling being undersized, you definitely won't wont him.

I'm not, Hamp's the same size as Wilson.

Whilst Menagola, depending on the source 188-89cm. I doubt he'll make it as a KPF. And the fact he likens himself to Hayes proves this. At AFL level, he'll be more of a 3rd tall that can push into the midfield IMO.

Here's what I'm hoping for come draft day:

4: Gaff
26: Cripps/Newton/Green
29: Chalwell/Hamp/Mitchell

He looks like Claremont have planted Swift in the goalsquare. Has the exact same short legs/long neck thing going on.

time will tell I suppose whether the club got it right or wrong ,like Notte who was given 4 yrs on the list or McKinelywho took 3 yrs to make his senior debut, these guys where taken with picks in the 20`s.

Notte was on the list for three years.

McKinley made his debut in his second year. Shocker of a game for WC against Port Adelaide.

You can't really attack Westcoast over the Weedon pick. The players Monocle mentioned havn't really done much, apart from Colyer who was under rated at the draft.

Still wished Fyfe fell to our pick.

This is what Emma Quayle says about both prospects

ANDREW GAFF

(Oakleigh Chargers, 18, 182cm, 78kg)

Will get you in a death-by-a-thousand-cuts kind of way. He will run and run and run; his combination of pace and endurance will come in very handy given the changed interchange rules. Will be at every stoppage and, more crucially, his anticipation at ball-ups can be a split second ahead of everyone else. He does not possess one standout quality, but he does everything at a high level, and will work hard to be the best he can be. Amazing mental toughness.

JARED POLEC

(Woodville-West Torrens, 18, 189cm, 80kg)

Rangy, running onballer who loves to run with the ball. If the goals are in sight, he'll be headed that way. Confident, good at reaching for and controlling awkward balls, and keeps his balance. Generally gets his left-footed kicks where he wants them to go, and played some good senior footy in the last part of the year. Consistent involvement in a game is his challenge.

I would be happy if we chose either to be honest, would have the perfect role for them as the substitute, coming in in the third quarter when guys are tired and have them run run run

I assume you mean only for 2011?

Emma Quayle states he is coming to us - and she gives an option for every other player.

I don't think its a case of playing bluff, maybe they are still genuinely deciding who they want - its not like there is a clear cut player. And you never know - some of that may be influenced by who they think will be available at 26 and 29.

This time last season it was Sheppard for sure, they assume it's Gaff this time around.

The 171cm Ugle ran 2.9 seconds for the 20m sprint at last month’s draft testing at the University of WA, but must make dramatic improvement in his overall fitness after one of the worst endurance performances in the beep test.

He only reached level 10. He is also extremely light at 69kg.

Doesn't sound like a second-round pick to me, especially after we grabbed a bunch of small forwards last year.

Says in the Hun today that Collingwood flew Ugle over here last week to run the ruler over him, apparently he's got some back issues they wanted to get the doctors to have a look at.

Be interested to hear more about Ugle from anyone who's seen him play.

He probably isn't but he fills a strong need. Maybe we don't have any great faith in the guys we recruited last year? I would say this is likely to happen. The Perth media seem pretty good at getting the scoop on local prospects but struggle with the interstaters, which is probably why they are unable to give us a clear picture on who we will take at pick #4.

Geez, he is short and light on, sounds more like a rookie pick than a pick 29, no way is he pick 26.

When J Green is likely to still be available at 26 or 29 we would be crazy to overlook him OMI. He has serious pace, roves a pack very well, burns off opposition and loves kicking goals. Reminds me of Ballantyne, can play as a small forward but with stints in the midfield / HFF / wing. Provides that bit of X Factor as well as being from Tassie.
