Draft Summary!

Just got home from the cricket and I wanted to say that I'm pretty disappointed by the draft results. First of all, another Victorian with our first pick, haven’t we learnt our lesson? Pheiffer I am very pleased with, but then that all we did good in my book.

Bernie Vince? You have got to be joking. He played one good final and that justifies pick 32? I am positive he would have stayed for pick 48 or possibly even 62. What a poor pick. Obst may be alright, but we didn’t even pick Rischbieth? Or what about Sam Elliot, he was available. I rate him very highly.

In my book, another poor draft performance once again.

Ah yes, Drummond the draft expert. Let's disect :

1) - A victorian with our first pick seems to be a pretty good move in hindsight. The boy has a lot of skill and looks to be a good prospect for the Crows.

2) - Pfeiifer agreed, good pick.

3) - Bernie Vince has done ok so far, probably needs a bit more work in the gym and a good pre season. Half agree, the jury is still out.

4) - Obst, agree, too light to make it as a KPP.

5) - Sam Elliot was/is a little small and never really cemented a spot in the South A's. Not a good enough result, but maybe was cut prematurely (half agree with Drummond's later post).

6) - Rischbieth is primarily an athlete which just doesn't cut it in the AFL. Good move to overlook him.

7) - Not mentioned, but we did get Porplyzia aswell in the PSD.

Of course, I am an expert because I have the benefit of hindsight.

Pfeiffer, Douglas, Vince and Porplyzia makes for good reading. At present, I'd rate it as an 'above average' result IMO.

And here I was with a sneaky plan to draft some Kenyans, give them the ball and let them run down the wing with it ....

So these pacy guys... they... really have to have football attributes too ?

As a singular attribute it is, but use Pearce as an example. We'd be a much better side if we had him. Our midfield is looking slow, we need to inject some pace. It would really add some variety to our side, not just major ball winners. We need some young game breaking prospects coming through.

I think the other thing that people forget, is that pace is the easiest attribute to lose.

Douglas is quick but not super quick, I think he looks a bit faster because he is super agile.

sam elliot is up there is the 20 meter sprint. He might be an option next year depending on how he goes this season
