Tigs 2010 I think that is the curse of only watching highlights. 4 touches a game is horrible...wouldn't go near him.

Grigg still remains the choice for me at 15 unless Kavanagh slides. Greene v Grigg I would be happy with either.

At 26 I wouldn't mind another mid type like Coizer if he slides, however I also wouldn't be against us taking Bolger at 201cm and fairly athletic it would give us a quality young ruck to develop.

I actually think that was the giveaway of his highlights. He was a very good tackler but the highlights were all tackles :D
It wasnt 4 per game. Just 4 in one of them. Even if you're tagged its still horrid. I think their were a couple of high teens from memory but probably didnt average more than 10-11 at a guess.

Amcre I'm surprised you are still so heavily on the Grigg bandwagon. Read through the Mitchell Grigg draft watch thread http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=838746&page=3 and it appears that Grigg has questions on work ethic on and off the park as well as his ability to find the ball and mix it when playing with men. You on the other hand are all over him and haven't seemed to acknowledge these claims from Adelaide Hawk and Simon H or the fact that he has been consistently overlooked and then a consistent failure at senior level despite dominating SANFL reserves. I would think that there is a massive chance he has attitude/work ethic issues. Was reading a Sam Mitchell interview today in which he said that pace doesn't really matter it's more the desire when it comes to stoppages. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-426609.html I don't care if this kid has hammer for a left foot or got 11 clearances against vic country I just want kids who have the tools combined with a massive desire to succeed. Despite his obvious gifts i'm writing him off my draft wish list.

It's desire and work ethic that has Waldhunter on my radar at 26. Not to mention the obviously offensive balance of our midfield. Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Conca, Deledio are all offensive players. Waldhunter, from his highlights, looks like he would jump on a handgrenade to get the pill or to bring a player down who has it and he reportedly has a penetrating boot so even if he does only get it 15 times a game he can use it.

Unfortunatley from what I can gather, unless Adams or Greene is still on the table at our pick, there aren't too many gun offensive inside mids with a decent skill set and reasonable size on offer in this draft so at 15 we may have to settle for a hybrid mid/flanker. I don't think this is a massive issue as Deledio can come into the midfield rotation and we should be able to grab an inside mid with a pick at around 10ish in next years super draft.

So for this reason I think we may have to start consider taking somebody other than a pure mid with pick 15. I'm drawn to Markworth and Crozier for their upside - the types of players that could be icing for a finals side once developed - which will most likely take time. In contrast i also like Ellis and Docherty for their speed, footskills and strong builds and think that Forster could be an option as a Mitch Duncan type.

Deledio is the key. He can become the pure mid if we have to go flanker. Ellis tested a lot better than expected and has some midfield potential. One thing i learnt reading that whole thread is Adelaide Hawk seems to just hate him in general. Maybe Grigg hooked up with his missus? :p

I just find it hard to follow one posters opinion and to be honest it seems like this guy has a massive grudge. He labeled him as arrogant and walking around like he had won two brownlows because he was having a couple of kicks at goal....i mean wow.

He has gone ok at senior SANFL level but hasn't dominated a game. I can cop the fact that an 18 yr old can only be dominant against only other 18 yr olds at this point.

His speed is of no concern imo because he has a great shoe and is quite strong. This combined with the fact he ran a 15.1 beep which is in the elite category. Could do a lot worse at 15.

Also alot of posters had him going top 6 2 months ago but then once a few negative big footy posters come out then all of a sudden he is sliding.

I really like the looks of Ellis as well by the way and would hope to pick Grigg/Ellis up in either order.

Not interested in Coizer at 15. If we wanted this type of player we had the perfect OP with the priority pick last year.

A mid at 15 and then best available including Bolger.

Fair call Amcre. SimonH i think wasn't too complimentary either and I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Think that who we take at 15 will be one of those guys who will just impress FJ and crew as a person not just as a footballer so I wouldn't be surprised if Grigg is overlooked if there is any truth to what Adelaide Hawk was saying.

Agree with Tigs2010 that Deledio is a massive key for us and who we draft. His form under Rawlings suggests that he can go into the midfield and be very effective. Would love to see him there with a half decent ruckman playing alongside Martin and Cotchin.

In terms of taking Bolger at 26. I almost think it is too late for us to spend a high pick on a developing ruckman. We really should be challenging in 4 years which isn't really enough time for most young rucks to hit their straps. I think I'd prefer to let Maric carry the ruck, Vickery give a highly effective chop out and for us to spend a high pick on a proven ruckman if needed when the time comes. I think with 15 and 26 this year, in addition to our first rounder and two second rounders next year we should be able to add some real depth to our midfield and forward rotations.

Richo was considered selfish because he hogged the ball.

What happened to us getting Brad McKenzie?

i can't wait until the draft, so exciting i hope we get markworth he looks good to me, i hope we pick up 1 defesive kind of midfielder like tuck, you will just go at the ball, and a wingman

last time we passed on someone because he had question marks over him coming from his interview, was one buddy franklin. dont be so quick to completely overlook someone just cause they dont have the best interview.

back in our senior players and coaches to get the best out of a kid if he has some slight queries, if he is the best available.

i see grigg bewing the new bad boy of the afl, but will be one of the best, get him or not, FJ will pick up a gun

when is the draft machine gonna come up, it was already up last year, i'm getting frustrated and i'm going to cry, i need to see the players availible otherwise i'm gonna go cold turkey

the whole debate is useless because FJ will pick someone unexpected no doubt. I do believe Markworth is ours at 26 and Greene or Kavanagh at 15. Grigg would be fine also even at 15 if Kav and Greene is gone, Docherty is also a big chance.

Any thoughts on Tom Curran?

Thought he showed some soft hands and at 195, with a capacity to play either end, that would be rather useful. At 55 or later (if Moore retires or is dropped off to be rookied before the PSD)

I know his champs were not especially good, and Hawks overlooked him, but I'd be happy to have him

Kavanagh
Grigg
O'Hanlon
Curran

+ 5 rookies

And I'd be just rapt

AFL should do the draft over 4 weeks. One round a week. 24 November is too far away!

I don't know why everyone assumes FJ will take someone from left field?? He has done it once, last year. Otherwise he has taken players about where they should have gone. In fact all our 1st rounders since 06 look like being top 5 or 6 in their respective draft pools except conca who it's a bit hard to tell yet.

As for Markworth I agree he sounds exactly a FJ type, very smart, high character and great leadership. My personal preference would Kavanagh at 15 and Markworth at 26 but I don't know much about guys except 2 min of highlights and a few write ups.

The more I think about Markworth the more I hope we can get him at 26. 189cm is a great size for a mid in the modern game, and his athletism is fantastic. The upside looks massive.

What about Dustin Martin? He dropped out of school.

I'm all for overlooking guys on the grounds of character. Dusty dropped out of school but he has the desire to be a champion. Doesn't matter how smart you are it's more about how much you are prepared to put in. Manson sounds like he would prefer to be hunting and grigg may have issues with workrate. Swan is a great player but he looked like he could be a bust before he turned around his attitude. At our stage we need kids to come in and be prepared to work their rings off and commit to the culture. I'd be looking to draft guys that turn up to training early and leave late.

Grigg could potentially be available at 26 and if he is then I think we should grab him there. I do agree with your thinking of trading in a ready made ruck in 3-4 years but would also be happy to draft Bolger.

If we got Kavanagh or Green at 15 that would be my preference. I have a feeling one of these two could slide given GWS will have to take some KPP's. I also like the look of Brandon Ellis, Forster who are both a pretty good size and fairly athletic.

Was a great move by the club trading into the first round at 26 by only sacraficing 4-5 places in next years draft. Brillant...because I actually think the top 25-30 look pretty good and fairly even.

I dont know the kid & have not seen anything of him except the highlights package and also the terrible sprint times.

But just get the feeling that this kid will be the slider in the draft & personally i believe the game is & has become way to fast for his types to become 'special' players.

Something very Brock McLean about this kid, I personally hope we dont take him unless he slides all the way down to 55.

Could be wrong but too high a risk at 26 for me.

I'm no draft expert, but one of the phantoms has Bolger going at pick 14 to GWS, with a range of 13-30.

Apparantly is the second best ruck of the draft behind Longer.

I know that we as supporters suspect we will take 2 mids with our first 2 picks, but given that we expect a decent mid to be available at 26, is there a chance we will look at Bolger with either of our first 2 picks? Perhaps if he's still there at 26 we should seriously look at him.
