Francis would be a great pickup but I see he's maybe not what we need. We have some third tall defenders and great forward line third tall so unless he develops a midfield fame its a no from me. On talent alone I take him in a heart beat but who does he replace?

Oliver is becoming one of my favorites fast. Looks a little reminiscent of Ollie Wines in the Bendigo days. Probably was keep out of the u18 team because of Nash Holmes and Dunkley.

Burton and MC Kay also are the two KPF who we should take. Absolute jets. Burton is he becomes better should aim to play a bit like a smaller Jarrad Waite. MC Kay who has come straight outta the under ground to be a top prospect. Looks a bit like Daniher in the way he moves and mqrks the footy.

I personally I don't think Francis will play as a 3rd tall at AFL level. I see hi, playing more an intercept marking half back who is also very creative and reliable by foot (Easton Wood/Brendan Goddard of old).
I think he'll also swing forward at times and maybe play in midfield at times.

If we get Francis, oh lawd. He'd be too good to pass up. His marking is top notch and his decision making and use of the ball is perfect to compliment Talia + Hartigan. Only thing is that we don't really need a 3rd tall backman type- we've got so many 'tweeners' like him but he'd be an upgrade on all our options bar Lever. If we take him we'd need to back Lever to play as a key backman which I think he can do when he becomes stronger. Our 3rd tall back options are chock a block though- Hendo (hate him played as a 3rd tall backman tho), Cheney, Ottens, Shaw and Lever. Francis could push into the midfield I guess but he looks elite as a quarterback in the Goddard/Hodge role.

I honestly think Francis can play anywhere. He needs to work on his aerobic capacity but I see no reason why he could not play in the midfield. If he last until pick 9, it's pants down, lap around the table time!

Francis looks like the kind of player who could also play up as a key forward from those highlights. Smooth kicking action and no fears dropping back with the flight. Would take him in a heartbeat.

Francis would be a dream get. Can play back/forward extremely well, and if he develops aerobic capacity, will become a great mid - has shown his clearance-winning ability to some extent. Also warming to Hibberd at 13 - great kick, good inside/outside balance and good speed. Both have versatility that Pyke wants, too.

I seem to remember a lot of talk this time last year that this would be a really strong draft for midfielders, and last year was a year for talls. Obviously we've ended up with a cracking player in Lever, but looking through this years phantom drafts most of the best midfielders that I'm assuming sparked that declaration 12 months ago seem to be locked in to Sydney, GWS & Brisbane through their academies!

Do they 100% have enough points to take all of these players or are there a few that might slip through?

Best mate played at the 16s state carnival with him who gets on with everyone and said he's the cockiest and most arrogant person he's ever come across in footy and not that warranted.

Fair enough, that's a decent source. Wonder how he'd go in an AFL environment where there's a lot of guys who'll put him in his place though.

Would also still like to have pick 71 available to use in case somebody of note on our wanted list somehow slipped that far or otherwise to use on Hartley if still there or use in PSD.

We have Keenan Ramsay whom will make a great centre half back but we decided we would play him forward in the SANFL when really he is gonna be a great defender as his U18 carnival showed so let's start playing him in the position he will excel in .

He played down back over the last 4-5 weeks of the year once Dear came back.

Some talk in AFL media that clubs consider Francis to be a flight-risk. Gives some credence to the hope that he'll be there at pick 9.

Even if just a rumour it works well in our favour. Need to spread it more.

not sure I agree actually, as much as I dislike the power, barracking for an interstate club is almost as bad as going for the poms in the ashes.

I can totally understand why sa kids go for vic teams. Most of us get our allegiance from our family. If mum or dad were die hard Collingwood fans all their lives they weren't necessarily just gonna jump on the crows in 91.
