For a KPF taken outside the first 2 rounds, 20% would be a nice shot. Still way too early to tell though. And Ramsey is a KPF,not saying he's as good as tex, but he's a similar type of player. Mcgovern is more a third tall, true. I'm keen to see how they go with another preseason under their belts. We invested heavily here last draft, lets at least give them a chance to make the grade before scrapping them. Next year we'll be in a better position to make both calls.

We can't get a back-up worth having in this draft with our picks, even the top tier KPF talent are rarely good to go in the first season, and those that are struggle and go top 5. As it stands we got lucky with Tex, scouting JJ from the bombers was great recruiting, besides that our last successful KPF was Kurt in 2006 and before that I dont even know!

When did JJ ever crash a pack? He was good, and he brought the ball to ground, but he never really crashed a pack.

First half of the season (or previous seasons) I don't think so but I feel like it was an area of his game he really improved on in the second half of the season.

I know he copped a bit on here for his performance against the Dogs but when I was at the game I wasn't too disappointed as he seemed to be bringing the ball to ground every time it went near him which is all I really want from him (obviously like more but I guess that's the base line of what he needs to be doing imo).

1: Weitering (given)
2: Schache (given)
3: Parish (Dees moved up for a reason)
4: Weideman (Dons need a genuine tall)
5: Mathieson (Dons need a mid to go with their tall)
6: Milera (Suns need class now that Bennell is gone)
7: Curnow (Dees need a Stringer-like player to partner with Hulk)
8: McKay (Blues need a tall forward together with their pick 1 KPD)
9: Francis (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
10: Used for Hopper/Kennedy
11: Oliver (Blues need a mid to go with their two talls - balanced draft)
12: Honestly not sure who the Tigers will pick.
13: Ah Chee/Tucker/Hibberd/Burton

Personally, I hope we walk away with Francis and H. McKay. That would be pants down, lap around the table time.

This is too good an opportunity not to grab a key forward in this draft. Having said that, it all depends on how the cookie crumbles!

I saw him play live twice , the first time he took a pack mark floating over the pack from behind but more impressive was when he lead up out of goal square and the ball was kicked over his head, he whipped around before his opponent had even changed direction and got 3m seperation before picking the ball up at pace and nailing a goal on the run from the pocket

The second time I saw him he took SA to the cleaners in the second last U18 champs game, kept finding 2m on his opponent and clunking marks overhead , mostly up the ground

Took us to the cleaners with his 12 possessions and 1 goal? Good player but let's not fall into that Big Footy trap of over-blowing everything x 1000.

Interesting looking through the U18 stats how high Milera's disposal efficiency is. Even pushes into the 90s.

Interesting looking through the U18 stats how high Milera's disposal efficiency is. Even pushes into the 90s.

The games are about 60% of normal game time , think he took about 8 marks and was in best 3 on
the ground

It was a v impressive game for a KF at that level considering guys like durdin never did anything near as good

Truck the lock down on the gorillas like tredrea - also developed a running game, and used the ball well out of defence.
Bock for the more mobile centre half forward like riewoldt - hurt the opposition with his run and carry, and good ball use.
Bassett for the third tall / loose man role as the last line of defence. also benefited from Craig's structures, allowing him to create and use the ball well out of defence.

Yea the forward line let us down.....unfortunately Ian Petrie and ken McGregor wernt of the same quality as the rest of the team

The lack of premierships in that decade can be put down to those person(s) (who also should literally be hanged!) responsible for the decision not to select Pavlich as our 17yo pick at the end of 1998.
There was no excuse, he was the highly rated junior and bottom-aged as well at the time, and I do remember thinking we had him after Port had selected Morgan and other clubs picked the Vics ... but then came our left field selection. I think it was Russell Ebert at the time that was involved with the under 18s and rated Pavlich as the best and was extremely surprised at his non-selection.
The single most costly decision ever made in our Club.

Some great testing at the Combine added further to Clayton Oliver's draft chances

CLAYTON Oliver's standout finish to the season has seen him rocket into top-10 calculations ahead of next month's NAB AFL Draft.

Oliver's impressive results at the NAB AFL Draft Combine capped what was a terrific end to the season. He ran a 3.00-second 20-metre time trial to show his burst of speed, and was among the best prospects in the agility test, recording a time of 8.11 seconds.

He then ran the three-kilometre time trial in 10:45 minutes, a good result for the 18-year-old.

Carlton is expected to take key defender Jacob Weitering with the first pick and the Brisbane Lions are tipped to draft goalkicking forward Josh Schache with the No.2 choice.

But after that a number of names continue to be linked with the next group of picks, including key forwards Charlie Curnow and Sam Weideman, midfielder Darcy Parish and half-forward Wayne Milera.

Oliver has also come into considerations, with South Australian defender Aaron Francis a chance to be available at the Crows' first pick at No.9.

That's been my argument against those who sprout ...."these guys have been tracked for 2-3 years"

That's CRAP .....what you did two year ago ....what you did one year ago, counts for nought

It's what you do in your draft year ....and even last 5-6 games that changes recruiters opinions
