They don't have pick 3. They'll probably give up a few picks in the 20s to get the equivalent value, such are the vagaries of the system.
Ok so the draft order isn't set yet? so we don't know the draft order until the fs/academy bidding crap is out the way?

The "bidding" crap happens live, during the draft. Depends on which (academy/father son) players are selected, and where they go in the draft.

The system sucks.
Nah the system is good, or at least it will be once we get an academy. Instead of seeing the best SA kids go interstate before our pick every year we'll be able to bundle our later picks to the same value as whatever Melbourne/Carlton/Brisbane etc bid on them and pick them up. We need to be pushing hard as hell to get the academies for all clubs idea put into practice. Get really loud about it. Its hard to think of many sides that would profit more from it than us, port and the WA sides so while the idea still has support we should form a bloc and all loudly lobby like Eddie McGuire on speed for academies

Do we know yet which top 10 are being presented .....including / excluding academy picks ?

If mills is bid on with pick 3 (which equates to 2234 points) then Sydney will need to put forward 1787 points worth of picks (ie they get a 20% discount). With their current picks that means they lose picks 33, 36, 37 and 44. The leftover points from pick 44 would slot that pick into pick 62.

We would be happy for them to burn that many picks if we intended on using a third rounder!

Agree. There should be academies for all or academies for none.

We need to get on board and push it hard ASAP. The idea of global academies has been floated and has broad support. We need to make hay before the idea gets shot down and especially considering there will be a couple of years lag before academies pay dividends. Get on it now. This pre-season. Draw attention to all these top 20 academy picks in this draft and push the issue this pre-season. Maybe we can get an academy up and running as soon as next year,.

Email fages. Or someone should twitter him.

I'm dead keen on McKay but I also want a gun midfielder.

If we go McKay at 9 (or more likely 13 after it is pushed back), who are we thinking would be there at our second pick?

Would Milera slide that far (is he even a midfielder) or do we hope for Oliver, or is Tucker capable of being a midfielder?

Tucker did go a 15.4 beep test

Hence why you always draft best available talent.

Forget this notion that club should draft based on a need, that's ludicrous. That's how players like Buddy Franklin, Matthew Pavlich and in this case, Danial Talia get overlooked for a player who should never have been drafted that early.

Clubs should always draft for talent but trade for need.

It would be nice to be able to trade our later picks in for a top pick of our choosing every year wouldn't it!

This academy shit is a nonsense. Why don't everyone get to pluck the best talent in our states for a bunch of peanuts?

Sick to death of the leg ups! Have a draft, a salary cap and NO bullshit exceptions FFS!

It's a joke and I think trading basketball cards was done better back in the early years of high school.

It's big picture stuff. If we want the game to grow it needs to be truly National. For that to happen, the non traditional state's clubs have to be successful and they need to have local players playing for them. Suck it up for a few years.
