I won't be looking at Pick 9 as a "dangerfield replacement" because he isn't.

All we can hope is that boofheads like Rowie don't push the comparison.
Well pick 9 is part of the dangerfield replacement but not all. Possibly replacement is the wrong word but you get the idea
And rowey will definitely make the comparison, probably for a few years

Not against drafting midfielders at all. It probably depends on what the next few drafts project to be like also. They'll look ahead and see what's available from the 16-17 year olds. If they project that this years midfield crop isn't as good as what will be available next year then that could influence their decision making also.
Next year's crop is apparently stacked with mids in the top 20 while this year is full of talls. Make hay while the sun shines and get a KKP and a mid this year then a couple of mids next

Francis - Milera = A+
Francis - Oliver = A
Milera - Oliver = A
Curnow - Oliver = A
Curnow - Milera = A
Milera - Burton = B
Milera - McKay = B
McKay - Mathieson = C

That my rough guide for everyone!

Very very keen to get Milera - would grab him at 9, probably even over Francis. His level of class is a must for our side. We have enough 'gut runners' and enough 'grunt', our team needs more class.

The Milera - Oliver combination would be exceptional. We would add some toughness to replace Danger, and some extra class. Combine Milera with Menzel, Hampton and Seedsman and we have a team that has pace and class, rather than just one that tries really hard.
I'd have Francis-Oliver as the most preferred option. Oliver provides the inside grunt we need. Francis the in/out class.

I know very little about the players available except from what I read on here. Thankfully Wayne has me on ignore so he wont read this, but if Oliver if available, he seems to be a quality mid we could do with.
Could well be, he's super competitive, which I rate highly but I'm just not sure about him. Actually think Gold Coast will take him at 6.

The issue with this is the lack of high quality mids in this draft. The ones that are there are very similar to the ones we already have.

We also only have 3 KPDs on our entire list so arguably more of a need.

Remember when everyone went apeshit when we drafted Talia because we already had Rutten, Bock and Davis. Didn't turn out to be such a bad decision.
Nobody was expecting us to go tall in that draft, because we'd gone tall in 2008 (Davis, McKernan, Lee & Young). At that point we were told that we'd stocked up on talls in 2008 because the 2009 draft class didn't have many decent talls and they expected them to be gone before our first selection. More to the point, everyone expected Carlton to grab Talia with the selection immediately before us - Talia & Butcher were the only talls that anyone rated in that draft. Carlton bizarrely went for Kane Lucas and we grabbed Talia as the best player available.

In retrospect, Talia has proven to be the 3rd or 4th best player selected in that draft. Fyfe is a clear #1, with Dustin Martin arguably the #2. Talia & Gunston are a toss-up for 3rd & 4th - both of whom were drafted by Adelaide.

We have more KPDs than you think - whether you choose to rate them or not. Talia, Hartigan, Lever, Otten, Shaw. That's 5. Cheney isn't KPP height, but is often used as a 3rd tall defender.

If talia gets injured we are horribly exposed. If francis, milera and oliver are gone by our second pick i wouldnt mind grabbing collins.

Which would have been suggested boy the CockRoach who will carry it on for the lads entire career.

They didn't think finding a backup for talia was worth the late 3rd round pick we could have gotten his brother for, so I don't think we would use a first round pick.

Or they thought Michael Talia wasn't very good.

He'll get picked up by someone else though, looks like a solid player

Collins and Bonner are such Hawthorn type players wouldnt surprise me if they ended up there, though apparently MFC might tatke Collins earlier, then my money would be on Rioli.

Agreed, the Hawks will end up with 2 of Collins, Bonner and Rioli.

Funnily enough Collins will probably be a better KPD than Carlisle.

adjunct to last message:
Last year everyone was identifying a pick for our first .....now it seems we'll grab one of the leftovers at #13  ........NO NO NO ....#13 IS OUR FIRST pick

You think you are the only one on here that has a brain and that thinks pick 13 is still an important 1st round pick, were are all not thick, everyone knows this.

You are carrying on like a tool and are melodramatic and having read your posts it seems to be a common theme.

About time you got your head out of your bum..................

I don't think Milera is a full of himself, sooky lala, **** headed, knob jockey.

Ok. There's a key terminology error you're consistently making. A key position player is one that plays FB, CHB, CHF and FF. Third talls aren't KPPs. Otten, Shaw and Cheney are not KPPs. At this stage Lever probably could play CHB at a pinch.

We can't go into a season with only two. If we don't get Collins (which I don't expect us too) we'll pick up a mature ager in the rookie draft as back up.
