List Mgmt. Draft Watch 2015

We have to respect that Ogilvie and his team know a lot better than we do. I didn't even know that he existed.

Having said that, you'd have to think that he could have easily slid down quite a few number of spots and still been there for us. If that was a reasonable chance then we should have traded pick 13 for two relatively high second round picks and got him and maybe a player like Bonner.

Our recruiting team obviously think he will develop into a very good player or they wouldn't have taken him. Lets hope they're right.
This would have required us to delist another (contracted) player. They couldn't even get that done in order to promote R'OB to the senior list. I doubt they even considered the possibility for a 2nd round pick in a weak draft like this one.

I think you can move Noah on and get something good in return. I think we will offer something ( hopefully not smart or Thomas) for him.

As for Gibson he's a solid back up. However you can trade him to Toronto for Terrance Ross who can be a replacement for Dunleavy.

Rose is very good , but it depends how his knee goes.
Rose is my favourite player, lucky enough to have seen him 3 times this year, inc 30+ vs Lebron...

But yeah I'd love to be proven wrong about him, but he's really got me worried about his lack of that hard edge. Not confident he could ever be the foundation of a Championship team. Not his fault I know, but I think the ship has sailed.

We didn't need another player, though. Only had two spots to fill. What's the harm in having a high pick to ensure you get a player, even if you think it'll probably not be required?

I'm going to call it here and now - Doedee will develop in to a Pendelbury styled midfielder and will be a star.

You all going to look very silly in the years to come.

Anyone else remember the meltdown over the Dangerfield pick?

I spoke to a Geelong girl recently and she says the small-town mentality is massive over there. Everyone pretty much knows everyone. So if Doedee does become a star ... well, let's say I don't have a good feeling about it.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Club has royally stuffed up here. If Doedee was such a target, we needed to trade pick 13 for a later pick and a player. There's no way any other club would have taken him in the top 30. Just an absolute ballsup.

In addition to the above, we clearly should have bid on Kennedy at pick 11. This would have cost GWS more than what they ended up paying for him, which would have reduced the chances of them matching the Himmelberg bid.

A disaster. There's still hope that Doedee turns into a great player for us, but he clearly doesn't address anything resembling a need, and he clearly would have been available 15-20 picks later. Fail.
There is just no way you could possibly know that.

Ogilvy doesnt get many wrong.
Read the article previously posted ....look at his highlights .....forget the position he played at the VIC Country .......I like Doedee!

That has to be the biggest shock pick in our history. All I can say is that Ogilvie is a jet and knows what he is doing. A 3rd tall defender is NOT a need in any shape or form, so this kid must be one hell of a player.

I'm shocked like everyone else, but more than happy to back Ogilvie in. There is no way we don't make a shock reach like that without a VER VERY good reason.
Nah ....Dangerfield was

We get to develop him and play for us for the next six years?

Im tipping we did a LOT a checking on this one. Given what has happened the questions will have been asked and investigated.

First thing we do is move his family to Adelaide. Like tomorrow.

Guys I'm feeling really confident on this pick. He is going to be a midfielder and he is going to be a star.

Well his main strength is nullifying opponents one-on-one. Not sure how that translates into being a midfielder.
His interview says that the coaches had no idea where to play him, so they played him at half-back.

Just because he did a good job shutting down opponents there, doesn't mean that he doesn't have other strengths that can't be exploited at AFL level.

At his height, and given the players we already have in our defence, I'm betting they see him as a potential midfielder. 2x midfielders would make me very happy.

What you've just seen is this year's Carlton and Boekhorst
Rubbish .......I'm excited about Doedee and Milera

Happy we didn't roll the dice on Burton
