If Brand and Eyre come after 44 then i would be interested in Brodie Lake at that pick as a medium defender with good pace.
Im hearing a handful of teams are very interested in bidding on brand and Eyre who have second rounds picks from just above pick 25 including us as we love bidding.

Hawthorn apparently want him at 25ish but I hope a bid for Downie whipes that out

might have been touvhed on but Reef is a mad Dons supporter. was recently on a collingwood supporters podcast and was raving bout how much he loves the dons and is excited for the bombers future.
I wouldn't waste your breath with the click bait news that essendon are keen on the slowest 2 k runner in this years draft who's overrated because he linked to the pies nga for lots of media click bait. From the horse's mouth he only wants to play for the pies to repay them back for helping him with everything like his broken back thats still gets sore but mainly he wants to play with his best mates from oakliegh chargers who are already at Collingwood in kelly, Quaynor, Blanco Daicos bros etc. You're going to get three great kids though who should be 200 gamers plus dunkley next year

Which is the difference between power rankings and a phantom/mock draft. One is purely a ranking on ability/potential, the other you're trying to predict which club takes which player in which order with a host of other factors – character, motivation, go home factor, type, style and fit with the existing list, where the build is at and what you need, etc. Half of that information you can't get without it being leaked from a club. Plus add bids and matching and then make half the draft pool not play for a year, and it's almost a complete guess. That's why most draft watchers do power rankings up until a couple of weeks before the draft – eDPS is one of few who does a rolling mock all year round.

Cal's power rankings would be as good as anyone's a month out, certainly as good as another well-known draft watcher who is worshipped around here despite apparently not watching virtually any of the WA or SA players all year until a couple of weeks ago. That person didn't buy any of the subscriptions for the WAFL or SANFL footage despite them being necessary to do his job properly and thus also a tax deduction given his employment with ESPN.

Also mentioned that most of our scouts got stood down with COVID and most of those ended up working voluntarily for the club during lockdown :eekv1:

Pretty sure i could provide something very similar without moving from my couch

I just prefer wasting my time doing other shite

The thing i dont get is all these football draft watchers release information as its released after twomey and have very similar rankings without going on much of a limb

Stats and a 2 min clip can provide enough info for these mock drafts/opinions

Theres a reason recruiters arent calling up Knightmare to ask who they should draft

I just hate people thinking that they know for absolute certainty that an Archie Perkins wont get past pick 11 North when Twomey today has clearly illustrtaed it as a possibility. Player movement is rapid, recruites get so fixated on certain players

The better ones have been releasing stuff for quite a while, some since January or even last November, and those ones tend to have different opinions to Twomey depending on who they've seen more of. Opinions do tend to homogenise a little around now though, I suppose people lose confidence in their own opinions when clubs start leaking bits about who they're interested in (whether the leaks are accurate or not).

Yeh but that info is also released in small amounts 12 months out and or doesnt require that much research to find. I dont know i just think watching games live tells things so much different to replays and these guys regurgitate this info as if its come from live watched games

Id also wish they just back themselves in with these players i mean thats the whole point theyre doing these mocks in the first place. Have a different opinion based on what youve seen and back yourself in

Bombers supporters, American footy fan here, who fell in love with the game almost 5 years ago. Last December, I began a footy podcast, and recently, I had a Bombers supporter on as a guest to discuss the club's trade period, and 2021 expectations. I hope you'll consider giving it a listen. Thanks so much, and cheers.

i do have this in mind.

Assuming top 5 go as expected
Bruhn & Reid are our picks.

for 14, you'd want 7 on your board.
For 16, an additional 2 though i think Chapman & Cook wouldn't be on our radar and go in that range

So you're a good chance of 2 of Henry, Powell, O'Driscoll, Cox, Poulter, Macrae and Perkins

Seven is a very wide band of players.

So 'not recruiting the same type of player'. At least we won't get 3 flankers.

I don’t think that is quite right. We have lots of flankers we couldn’t turn into midfielders - what we really need is three flankers that we CAN turn into midfielders.

And if we bid on him? If Collingwood really want him, they need to match our bid. If they don't, then he can play for the club he supported.

I'm not worried about his 2km time trial because of COVID. Plenty of players develop the tank to play at AFL level. He fits a need and is incredibly quick. A long term prospect.

Haha I checked out his thread for the first time in a year and some of the video descriptions are cringeworthy in how click baity they are.

Like drafting the best available players? Oh wait you do not want that either.
Now now, I'm with you and think that Dodoro's drafting has been ok, the fact is we haven't won a final, let alone a flag in 15 years is a reflection on Adrian. Doing the same thin expecting a different result is the definition of stupidity, ain't it?

I've come around this year to the fact the clubs lack of development has seriously hindered the development of any top notch players (MGrath not there yet, ditto Ridley, Draper could move into that same category post 2021).

If Henry is not a strong aerobic runner I’m not interested. Had ten years of last quarter burnouts and stumbling to the end of seasons end. Let’s bring in some guys who are strong aerobically.

I don’t know who you’re talking about but the people I’m talking about do go to live games all year... eDPS is one of them but there are a handful of them who do similar.

“Phantom drafters” that turn up in September guessing based on highlights reels are not the same breed at all.

Landsberger has penned an article this morning saying the club consensus is we’ll take Perkins and Cox with 2 of our top 10s

He seems to think we’re replacing all three of Daniher, Hooker and Hurley... is he meaning Cox, Brand and Eyre? I can only read the first paragraph :(

Essendon’s AFL draft strategy to replace key talls with prized first-round picks
Essendon has big plans for its prized selections in the AFL draft as it sets the foundation for its next era without Joe Daniher, Michael Hurley and Cale Hooker.

Essendon will replace its all-star spine on Wednesday when it drafts several big Victorians to help prepare for life after Joe Daniher, Michael Hurley and Cale Hooker.
The Bombers boast their best draft hand in history – picks No. 6, 7 and 8 – and are zeroing in on 200cm fullback Nik Cox and powerful midfielder Archie Perkins.
The Bombers can then match bids for academy prospects Cody Brand (195cm) and Josh Eyre (197cm), giving new coach Ben Rutten enough tall timber to build a new base for his team.

They are also big fans of Port Adelaide’s academy gun Lachie Jones and are considering bidding on the defender with one of their picks.
Daniher walked out on the Bombers last month while fellow All-Australians Hurley, 30, and Hooker, 32, are coming towards the end of their careers.
Cox is unlikely to make it past Essendon’s trio of top-10 picks and securing the freakish athlete along with lockdown defender Brand and goalkicker Eyre would, quite literally, make it a big draft for the Bombers.

Nikolas Cox is one of the players Essendon has been looking at.

The Bombers are set to draft the next Cale Hooker and Michael Hurley.
Similarly, Carlton used the 2015 draft to build its spine by taking Jacob Weitering, Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow with three first-round picks.
Brand and Eyre are rated as second-round talents and, while Hawthorn is eyeing Eyre, the Bombers have the list spots to match bids and secure both players.

That would see the Bombers walk away with five draftees – the most in the AFL.
While Sydney (No. 3) or Hawthorn (No. 4) could swoop first on Perkins, rivals think both he and Cox will land at Tullamarine.
Cox stacked on 5kg of muscle this year although the query from recruiters is whether the Montmorency boy will be able to keep filling out his thin frame.
Former Northern Knights talent boss Rhy Gieschen said Cox had special traits, exemplified by a moment in Werribee last year.

“He took a mark leading, which took him outside 50m, and he wheeled to put it to the top of the square,” Gieschen said.

“But there weren’t many options, so he decided to go for home and it sailed through at goalpost height.

“That’s when clubs went, ‘Woah – he could be something pretty special’.

“It’s uncanny for a tall key position type player to be able to switch on to either the left or right foot and hit targets.

“That’s his No. 1 attribute.

“For a tall he’s got elite endurance, he ticks all the boxes athletically with his speed, he’s 200cm and still growing and he kicks the ball really well.”

While the prototype has been compared to Geelong’s Mark Blicavs, Cox grew up with a Sherrin in his hand and his father, Darryl, played 30 games for Fitzroy, Melbourne and Brisbane in the 1980s.

Recruiters have described the draft as an “unpredictable market” because they have not seen many of the elite prospects play this year.

It means clubs are poised to use top-10 picks on players they aren’t certain about.

“Pick 3 this year might be worth a pick 7 or 8 next year,” one club’s head recruiter said.

Recruiting budgets at most clubs have been slashed by 35-40 per cent and talent spotters are unsure how often they’ll be able to travel interstate to watch games next year.

They are also expecting to conduct initial draft interviews over Zoom to save money going forward and are lamenting the redundancies felt by dozens this year.

I can't figure out who this is.
