Boy Fred - you talk some smack.

You refuse to acknowledge good forwards taken early - and then make your case using a smattering of tall forwards taken 1st/2nd round border?
how about vickery + patto first round as well how many times do you blokes want us to f _ _ _ up for gods sake mids mids and more mids with pick 6 wake up .

seriously your either being a troll or know very little about football?
Roughead and Franklin are big contested marking forwards, more than capable of holding down the key posts. They kicked something like 180 goals between them in 2008. Riewoldt would be in the game's top 5 players, some would have him at number 1.
Key forwards in the first round actually have a pretty good success rate recently. Jack Riewoldt was taken with our first pick for example. It's ruckmen taken in the first round that are the risk IMO.

You can find gun mids throughout the draft. Many gun mids have come from gem late picks or even off the rookie list. For me it's best available at pick 6. On your logic, if by some miracle Day fell through to pick 6 you wouldn't take him?
what a joke number 1 not good enough to clean j browns boots + pav ablett judd lenny h even jack will b betterhe is a nice runner thats it.

We have currently a Coleman medailst...a 199cm giant, Jayden Post, David Astbury...I think we have enough targets to go a mid first round and then grab Mitchell or another forward later on.

Prestia may not play RR but he will play midfield.

Deledio, Foley, Cotchin, Martin, Morton, Harper, Prestia, Edwards, Jackson

9 guys who can play middle....loving life!!! Have a look at Collingwood they have Dawes and Cloke and they won a premiership off there midfield. We have Jack, Griff, Post, Astbury....

I totally agree with amcre with his points & believe he can even go further
Jayden Post 195cm
David Astbury 196cm
Jack R'voldt 195cm
Ben Griffiths 199cm
Ty Vickery 200cm
Troy Taylor 190cm

all the above players are big enough & can all play in the same team at the same time 5 out of 6 of the players mentioned are natural fowards (yes tv is a foward) & you can add the rookie Nick Westhoff is 198cm so we have 7 players 195+ that can flay foward & 3 of them griff,tv,post can pinch hit in the ruck. But I'm in favour of taking 1 more !

My prefrence is as follows.
6. Heppell/Atley
29. Greem/Conca/Harper/lamb/Andreoli/Karnezis
(but i would also consider Luke Mitchell or Lucas Cook here if the tiger recruiters really rate either)
46. Any players mentioned above if falls through.
50. Best available inside/outside mid
63. Johnathon Giles 22 yo 200cm 95kg ruckman that had a standout season in the sanfl this year.
Leif Cope.............. this Kid i would really like in the rookie pick but would be tempted to take here. project player who has had groin problems this year but with 'huge upside'
18 yo 204cm 98kg ruckman thats extremely mobile & a good mark with good pace.

Dream would be.
6.heppell,29.harper ,46.mitchell,50.andreoli,63.giles & cope in the rookie draft.
I did say Dream!! :D

Cleve Hughes was something like pick 20 so we lost little and Schultz pick 12 was okay, bearing in mind those drafts were not compromised.

Lynch has more upside than Schulz and definitely Hughes i would have thought!!
i hope so as pick 20 we lost little pick 20 should b 150 game player, schulz was not ok , greg beck and miller f _ _ _ _ _ killed us .

Spot on. We have plenty of young KPF stocks I completely neglected Vickery. We can't just keep drafting them because the others haven't come through I mean they have only had 1-2 years in the system and will come through eventually. We need to back our selections from previous years or else we won't be able to build a team, you can't just write every player off or else you will be drafting KPF for 5 years.....

Re: Tim Northe

Reminds me of Kade Simpson from carlton,
Could be a good player.

Re: Tim Northe

Didn't do anything tough at any point...misses an opp to tackle at 0:13 or 12. Highlight reel of a kid in space kicking to other kids in space.

In a word............

Re: Tim Northe

Based on the TWO minutes of you tube highlights i guess he would be a good pickup, but then again.......

Re: Tim Northe

I know Timmy well, seen this kid grow up through the ranks at my junior club and i also played footy under his dad!

He's a good little player no doubt, not quite sure if he'll be a great AFL player though but i sincerely hope he does because he's a good kid with a great work ethic!

Id be very happy if we were to snare him with our 1st round rookie pick, not sure if he will go in the ND!

Re: Tim Northe

The mis-spelling of Dyson's name is now getting comical.

Heppal is officially the worst I've seen.

Northe's a tough little bloke - very nice left foot that goes a long way.

However: not quick - doesn't find a lot of it - really short.

Good defensively and good overhead - but he's not quick or athletic enough at that height to be taken in the ND.

I have seen this guy play a few games for gippy power, he was their join best and fairest winner last year with Heppell. I rate him quite highly and think he may be a gem of a pick up.

What do reckon?

Reminds me a bit of Newman without the dash.. Definitely worth getting down the club to do some training for a rookie selection...

#6 - Heppel
#29 - Cook
#46 - Hallahan
#50 - Conca
#63 - Coup
Maybe a bit wishful with 46/50

Re: Tim Northe

Throwing names around without discussion doesn't get us anywhere.

Nor does basing our opinions off 2 minutes of highlights.

Based on this, 90% of posters would be unable to comment on anyone.
Behind my "dream selections"

Our needs:
#1 Priority - Outside, skillful midfielder who is damaging by foot and can kick goals.

#2 Priority - Another tall forward to help Jack. Yes, I know we have Jack, Post, Astbury, Griffiths, Westhoff and Vickery who can all play forward. However, Jack is locked in at FF for the next 10 years. Post is being groomed down back and also as the second ruckman. Astbury looks very promising at CHB and is at home there IMO. Griffiths has dodgy shoulders and is still a risk IMO, Westhoff is a long, long way off and no matter what anyone thinks Vickery will be our #1 ruckman with stints up forward to stretch the defense (3 talls).

#3 Priority - Quality users and decision makers with the ball, who can rest on a HFF or pocket and kick a couple of goals and push White/King etc out of the current team.

#4 Priority - Developing 'monster' ruck. We have a mobile ruck in Vicks and Browne and Gus are hard working/ bash and crash rucks, however, we would be well suited to add a 4th ruck to our books who offers something different. A potential 107-108cm, 105-110kg player would be handy and allow our mids first hands on the ball.

Therefore, based on our needs, I can look through 'youtube' / 'draft' videos, stats/draft results and read comments from in-the-know posters who watch plenty of football, to formulate an opinion on just who I want at which pick.

So, I will give you a 1st choice and a 2nd choice for each pick, being as realistic as possible.

#6 - Heppell followed by Polec
(Would be stoked with either of these two. Both are great users of the ball and very damaging run and carry players. I think Heppell is a bit harder at it and can also win his own ball better than that of Polec - not taking anything away from Polec)
#29 - Cook followed by Mitchell
(Cook is the 3rd best forward in this draft IMO, but I don't think he'll last to our pick. Similar to Griffiths in that he has huge upside, needs muscle but has the aerobic capacity and speed that is needed at CHF. Mitchell is a fair bit behind him IMO but is the more realistic to be around at 29)
#46 - Hallahan followed by Conca
(Hallahan is a tough player who I think would be suited as a small up forward on a flank. Gets his own ball and good user of the ball. Conca is again a solid midfielder, who will start on a flank similar to Hallahan - both might be gone by now, but can only hope)
#50 - Mitchie followed by Farmer
(Mitchie would be a medium forward, great disposal and could add to the midfield rotations. Would be considered with 46. Farmer is another HFF who can kick a goal. Really just looking at best available with this pick)
#63 - Coup followed by Giles
(Coup is a giant of a kid. 205cm already with a few more to go one would think.. Definitely will take 3-4 years to even be considered in the seniors. Very athletic and basketball background helps. Giles is the best ruckman outside of the AFL by all reports and would be the immediate fix)..
:D:D:D
RANT OVER!

**Just wanted to add in that their is huge potential that there will be plenty of bolters and sliders in this draft. With GC having plenty of the top 15 picks, Essendon only using 3 picks and Collingwood not getting involved until the 40's, all clubs will have specific targets/players in mind for each pick. Therefore, even though player x is best available at 25, he may slide to 35.. I know this happens every year, but I think it will be more prominent this year..
