Anyone else like the look of these kids?

Westhoff is phenomonal below his knees for a bloke of his side and a decent mark and very mobile. Would certainly be difficult to match up on!

Hier I see as being a perfect Nathan Basset replacment in a few years playing as a third defender.

Also Brad Dabrowski is looking good:p

I like the look of Zac Hier. He comes from a quality family could be a good cheap pick up. Am I right in thinking he isn't even in the state screening?

My exact thoughts when I saw him.

More likely to be rookied than drafted though IMO.

I am a BIG fan of Westoff. He reminds me SO much of Trent Hentschel, its actually freaky

However, he is so skinny that I fear he would get blows away in a 5 goal breeze. His body shape is a bit wierd and I am not entirely sure he would be able to muscle up significantly. To me his body shape is similar to Scott Stevens'. I would still love to get him on our list and take and get him onto weight program. I would still take a punt. He is 6'5 and he moves like a midfielder and can turn on a 5 cent piece. His goal today was demonstrative of this.

This is the 3rd time I have seen Zac Hier and I like what I see. He is already very strong in one on one contests, has decent spring and pace. Definetly look at him as well. As others have said, he could be a perfect replacement for Bassett in a couple of years time.

Both of these boys are 19 and both deserve to be looked at. Westoff in particular since he is a tall forward.

Hopefully we can clean up in the rookie draft this year, I think its time for a Rutten/Bock/Mattner vintage.

Has there been any official word on the status of our 2006 rookies, or was our statement about 'not making any decisions until after trade week' apply to them as well?

All have been delisted.

Westhoff kicked a great goal from a snap around his body in the first qtr today. I couldn't believe how skinny he was, especially his legs. When he got tackled he was thrown to the ground so easily....but he has potential :thumbsu:

Agree with your comments re Westhoff, but god, he is a stick figure.

That body would get snapped in half at AFL level as it is.

My one fear is that his body does remind me of Scott Stevens, and we have to anchor him on a windy day so he doesn't blow away.

If he can be fattened up he's worth getting though.

Send him to our lovely fast food establishments 3 times a day with no exercise and he should fatten up in no time. :)

I think there is enough talent there thats worth taking a punt on. At what pick, well that remains debatable.

The boy has the talent and one thing that I like about him is that he is a ferocious tackler. Some of the tacles I have seen him pay were phenomenal. He is very mobile for a player of his size and he is bloody tall.

Who ever drafts him will have a talent on their hands but they would need to be really patient here. He is VERY skinny and while he might have the skills to play at AFL level next year, his body is at least 2-3 years away from being AFL ready.

On talent alone, most definetly worth a shot. I will watch with a lot of interest to see where or if he gets picked up. If we are lucky to get him on our rookie list, I think we would have done exceptionally well.

Hier has been super impressive but I wonder whether he is an in between size.

he's not tall enough for a key defender and perhaps not quick enough for a small defender

Attacks the ball hard though and reads the play well. Destroyed Waterhouse at Woodville but I guess that's not saying much.

Perhaps a rookie list pick.

Based on what I saw yesterday, that is a good assessment.
