Just watched the video:

In his interview when asked about the last couple of days since arriving in Adelaide he replied with;

It's all just a blur, really, I'm still getting my head around the fact I'm living in Adelaide for the next couple of years

I get the feeling he doesnt want to be there. Which i guess is probably natural considering in a matter of days he's been uprooted and shifted half way across the country away from his family etc. Maybe I'm just paranoid..

Thoughts?

I saw that but didn't take any notice.

His contract is 2 years, it's his first EVER interview, after he said it he was probably like 'ouch', but yeah take that with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't read into it too much, probably just not trying to get too far ahead of himself by stating that he thinks he will be a 10 year player. Could also just be using the term "couple" very loosely, wouldn't get too worried yet.

Just had another look at it, and you left out the part he said prior to the "couple of years" where he said that he was absolutely stoked to be coming to the same club as Taylor Walker.

The lad speaks exceptionally well and he may have said the couple of years because that's what his first contract is, and he's too modest to assume at this stage that he'll be automatically re-signed.

Just on this boy, he is a lovely mover. The club might just have snared a good one here. :thumbsu:

I think Brad Ebert said something to similar effect about West Coast.

Well, another prominent draftee did, I'm about 90% sure it was Ebert.

Think it was Ebert.

Ebert spoke to Dangerfield congratulating him etc and spoke about how the Adelaide crowd should give him a chance etc..since he was a suprise pick.

I think he moved to Victoria for school or something. He played for NSW/ACT at the Championships but he also played a couple of games for Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup over the last two years (two this year and one in 2006).

I'm unsure of his exact movements, but since TAC Cup is a competition based on what region you're living in then I would suggest he was living in Vic.

Didn’t Tony Armstrong board at Assumption College in Victoria?

Yes -
"It was a bit of a privilege, but I suppose some of the NSW scholarship holders may have been here if they were able to be, but I'm flying the flag up here for NSW," Armstrong told afl.com.au at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.

"I'm really proud to be at the camp and it's great that footy in NSW is on the up. Winning the [under-18] championships have helped this year."

Although hailing from Burrambuttock near Albury, Armstrong lives in Victoria while he attends Assumption College. He made a couple of appearances with the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup.

"I go to boarding school at Assumption College, just out of Melbourne, so I got picked up by the [Calder] Cannons, but I only played there twice this year because of school footy," he said.

"I played predominantly school footy this year and for NSW. I wasn't there that much for Calder this season because of school footy and I also broke my arm playing for the school combined side."

Armstrong, a passionate Sydney supporter, said his mother guided him towards Australian Football when he was younger.

Thanks for posting the vid.

BTW, at 2:10 I found it very interesting. Dangerfield fumbles the mark but as he's sprinting away you can hear Craig yelling, "break, break..steady", good to see they're paying attention to his kicking and trying to fix it already. :thumbsu:

His kicking style is pretty good, they'll be able to fix it no problems.

Dangerfield has some crazy pace after the ball is dropped. Finished #2 overall in the 6x 20mtr sprint test...with a time of 24 seconds something, quick quick!!

Meh!

You can never take anything these lads say seriously. I, like macca23, have been super impressed with how young Tony presented himself to the media. He looked like a seasoned pro and he appears to be a classy player :thumbsu:

So many kids said they would be here for the long run and then left at first opportunity and by contrast, a few of them have literally cried and been disappointed to be drafted by us but only to stick around for a few years and repay the club for drafting them.

I guess we will find out in a couple of years if there is anything to the comments but IMHO its a great thing that he was in boarding school AND that he is good mates with Walker. That can't hurt IMHO.

storm in a tea cup, i rather take the entire interview in context, pretty mature lad :thumbsu:

that video has got me very excited about Otten in particular. Didn't seem to hit a wrong note. As a tall he'll need a season in the SANFL, and probably a very productive one, but he'll be very exciting in the years to come.

Reasons why Armstrong won't be looking to move:
1) His family's in Wodonga, not Melbourne
2) He was in the same club as Taylor Walker
3) Adelaide is the fourth place he's lived, you'd think he'd be used to it
4) Believes he was very lucky to get drafted
