Just heard on the radio that any games cancelled this week due to the Ash, would be a draw.
If our game is cancelled we get 2 points which will be a massive boost for us considering all of the teams that have had draws this year.
Saints (18 points)play Geelong which you would think is a loss for them so we would end up effectively 3 games ahead of them.
Essendon (22 points)are playing North, a loss could see us 1 game clear of them.
There are many different variables, but a weeks rest (would mean no injuries) and 2 points would be bloody handy.
I say bring on the ash, give us 2 points!!

Would rather 4 points for a win.
This to me is a winnable game, if we were to play Geelong Collingwood or Carlton Yes take the 2 points but not against Melbourne.

Crazy talk. This is possibly Freo's best chance to win at the 'G in a while. And I want to see it first hand.

Play the game at all cost. Reschedule if necessary. Draw would not be fair on us, Melbourne or any of the other clubs fighting for a spot in the 8. :thumbsd:

Have you seen our record at the G, have you seen us V melbourne at the G. It would be a good rest for the most injury cursed team in the AFL.
1 week less travel for the year
1 week for players to rest up
2 points - moving up the ladder
1 less week we have to wait b4 Sandi comes back

Oh and I do not give a rat what you want to see.

well if we do get awarded a draw, would rather it be like this than actually play in one.so that would mean 2 games of footy in a month, jeez some of our footballers would benefit from that you would think?

I'm happy with a draw.

You know what they say about draws, its like kissing your sister. Thank god I have a hot sister.

Freo have basically played 6 solid quarters at the G this year. If the final quarter fadeouts can be negated (like it was against Essendon last week), the win is entirely within reach. And the Dockers need as much experience on the 'G as they can get, since they're usually deprived of the opportunity.

Furthermore, just who was it that Freo recorded their last MCG win against?

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure it's not beyond the pale for me to prefer seeing Fremantle given the chance to win a game of football, over a game being called off entirely. Sheesh.

And while we're at it, 2 points won't see Freo move up the ladder at all.

But by all means, if you would rather not see your team play, have at it. Strange method of barracking, but there might be something to it.

Gaining 2 points will make our total points go from 24 to 26 - therefor Lord ****whad, we move UP to 26 points.
I agree we need more G experience but, we also need more players back, less travel and a more healthy list to run at the finals.

When someone says up the ladder I usually think that they mean that their side will at least advance one position. Which is generally what it means, but I might be wrong.

After this week, Freo play 15th placed Brisbane and 17th placed GC at home, and then go into a bye. Should be enough of a recovery period to slot Sandilands, Hayden, Silvagni (?), McPhee (?) back into the side before heading out to Sydney.

I might be putting too much weight into hoodoos and mindsets, but a win at 'G would be just as beneficial as the Sandi-free win last week, in terms of Freo's home tilt towards (hopefully) the finals.

Which would cascade into being Freo's first consecutive finals appearance, which is more... psychologically... good... stuff.

(Also, I've had a burning hatred for Melbourne since Round 22, 97, when Farmer kicked 6. Worst football experience ever.)

I agree.

Shame some weak minded supporters on here would rather take the easy way out.

Sound logic....a well thought out and constructed post. What the hell are you doing on Big Footy

I absolutely agree....particularly regarding the experience on the 'G'. I can't believe that there are Freo people that think that taking a cheap 2 points is in our best interests of this team long term. Hiding from the 'G' because of a bad record is hardly going to help come september (if we are there) is it?

Why would we want a draw? The four teams below us all have draws, so not having a draw doesn't bring percentage into it (and ours is not good enough, despite most of those beneath us having poor percentage also).

There is no advantage to getting the draw.

There is no reson we should lose to Melbourne.
But theres been no reason we should of lost to them in about the last 5 years but we still seem to do it.

So even though i still think Melbourne are crap, i think too many in our team think the same thing an always take the game too easy an we lose.

So i would take the 2. :P but will then be pissed off coz it really is a game we should win an have no excuses to lose.

Why are people so confident of a win?

We don't travel well in Melbourne and just keep adding to the injury list with Mundy and Ballantyne joining the sidelines. Sure Barlow is back but he'll probably be a sub.

I reckon we're too thin on the ground to scrape a victory together.

Because Melbourne are shit.

We managed without Mundy last week. But hey let's not try winning in Melbourne because it's too hard.
What a joke

I'm not confident of a win, but dont want to take the easy way out and grab two points for nothing.

As LN said it gives us another opportunity to play at the MCG and hone our skills there, ready for late September:D

each game we've played at the G this year, we've gotten closer to a win. i had this one penciled in. we're playing with a heap of resolve at the moment that melbourne can't match because right now they're a rabble and a soft one at that. go for the four points because we're familiar with the ground, barlow will lift the team and we've got momentum. it is the perfect time to break another hoodoo.

Considering our crap percentage, a draw would be as advantageous to us in jumping teams above us as a win would.

Yes because I'm clearly talking about not trying.

Don't underestimate the importance of Ballantyne to our structure, without his forward pressure opposition teams just walk the ball out of our forward 50.
