So you wouldn't kill for your possessions?

Put it this way, if I've got my baseball bat and the offender's armed with less than a firearm, I'm prepared to risk my life defending my possessions. Therefore a thief should also consider that he might be killed.

It's my house and those are the rules.

Risk your life?

So now you're assuming that the thief is a murderer as well?

What other rules do you make for in your house, that are against the law?

This epitomises the modern madness surrounding criminals' rights.

Apex gang members escape conviction after Melbourne home invasion
TWO Apex gang members have escaped criminal convictions after bashing an elderly couple in their beds during a brutal home invasion.

The victims, aged in their 70s, have been left deeply traumatised after waking to find the young, armed intruders in their house.

They were assaulted with weapons during the onslaught.

The Sunday Herald Sun has been told the Apex pair received six-month probation orders with no convictions recorded.

I know of people who've obtained unregistered firearms for self-protection in exactly this circumstance. If the establishment refuses to protect the public, people will assume responsibility for their own safety.

Wake up Andrews you useless ****.

Well they should. People protest arguing 'human rights', but these people are sub-human, so it's irrelevant.
So you are saying we should have the death penalty for people who cross against the red man? Or were you foaming at the mouth so much you didn't read the thread properly?

Wake up Andrews you useless ****.

If those people actually use those guns in that scenario theyre looking at a 20 year stretch.

And statistically they have just made themselves less safe

That's um... that's a bit dark mate... you ok?

Fine. Wherever there's a gun there's a temptation to use it, even if just to assert control. The situation often escalates...

When the public doesn't feel safe, a mini-arms race ensues.

Edit: No I have never contemplated self-harm.

I can't believe this guy was even arrested, should be given a medal

yes because when your kill a guy in the street two doors down and claim you did it because he broke into your house. **** it, your word is good enough. No need for a police investigation which has lead to the police coming to the conclusion that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a prosecution for a murder charge.

never mind the vigilante motive related to rape of a girl batterham is acquainted with.
never mind the conflicting accounts batterham has already given about whether slaterdickson had ever actually entered the home.
never mind the lack of evidence of a break-in having occurred on the night of the incident when police were on scene.

nope no need to have of these matters resolved by a court. Just give the guy a medal because fostering a social norm of vigilantism couldn't possibly lead to a negative outcome.

I thought he was granted bail because the case against him isn't very strong. Maybe I heard it wrong on Sky News.

NSW bail laws only allow bail to be refused on the basis risk, to further court appearance, re-offending or a threat posed to community. not on the strength of the case against the accused. if police contested bail it means the accused would have had to show cause as to why bail should not be approved. As far as i've been able to find there's no record of NSW police contesting bail in this case.

that said, i don't doubt sky news reported otherwise. journalism in this country is shit house.

Families terrorised in home invasions
A couple was forced to hide in a bathroom, a family confronted in their living room and a man was stabbed during three terrifying home invasions overnight.
...
He saw three males of African appearance in his house.
...
"My wife handed me a cricket bat, so I’ve proceeded to raise it above my head. He’s put his hands out and said give me the keys, give me the keys. My wife saw what I was about to do and screamed at me, John, just give them to them, I tossed him a set."
Andrews, you useless campaigner.

More African home invasion stories. I'd suggest they are well over represented in violent crime if such statistics were made publically available. The law needs to come down hard on these clowns.
Around the corner from me my wife and kids are frightened screw the law come into my house and threaten those in you will get what for
I dont give a shit what colour you are

(unless they are there to arrest me)

Not without a warrant, every charge would be thrown out.

Would anyone be annoyed if the law was changed so that if you killed someone in your house, you simply had to prove that you did not invite them in, or that you did not know the person, or that they broke in, you could not be charged with any crime related to it?
