Will be what defines the best teams from the rest. Sideways trading premo's on the basis of their upcoming 3-4 opponents. Say you have Buddy and he has been scoring well but his next 3-4 opponents he historically struggles to score against, whilst say Goodes is playing teams that he absolutely dominates against in the same time frame. It might prove to be a strategy worth taking to trade out a super premo based on upcoming block of opponents then trade them back in when they're expecting a better run.

Also guns who are playing, but hampered by a slight injury that is effecting their output, trade them out until they are 100% fit again.

I can't see the casual DTmer putting in the time to do that much inseason research.

^This x 9000

Think a lot more strategy will be needed now.

On the contrary, it's too hard for obsessive types (like most of the top teams from years gone by) who spent hours on end researching and planning instead of socialising, getting laid, having kids etc. Now they will have to rely on getting their teams and trades right (at the right time)which will take more skill than ever before.

Nerds living in their parents basement were ruining Dream Team for everyone, now it will be fun for footy lovers who have a life outside of the internet.

If you don't like it, GTFO to nerd paradise AKA SC and leave those capable of adapting to change to fight it out for the FR. :thumbsu:

Haha I totally agree, I play Dream Team to have fun with my friends, not to win a car

DT just became way better for the 99% of us who enjoy playing just for the fun of it. This forum will now be active until the end of the H&A season instead of dying on it's arse by Rd15 like it has every other year. :)

Wow didn't expect that...see it as a positive. Trading is what the games about (and Im normally a trade hoarder)...will keep season long interest and open up a whole new set of strategies.

Interesting to me that their differentiating the two games more (DT and SC)...DT going for the casual, broader appeal.

Theres an art form to managing the timing of your trades. Now thats gone. Everybody gets a free swing every week. It becomes a financial game, trading players in and out for short term capital gains. May as well play a fantasy share portfolio game.

Now the art form shifts too looking at up coming rounds, who is vsing who, who has a better record vsing this team or who seems to struggle vs that team and ensuring your team is best suited for the up coming rounds. Instead of keeping a player and seeing him perform some weeks and then struggle the next but you are forced to keep him due to limited trades.

Yep.

These changes were designed to keep the mug punter involved for longer but instead will make him even more of a victim to the guy who does his homewrok.

Wait so we now have 44 trades (2 per week) and not 30. I thought 30 was locked away? or is that SC

Will be interesting after round 1 and needing to use 2 trades if all your picks look good. Could cause you to trade some players out who you want to keep.

Won't be playing DT this year.

Not worth investing valuable time in this s**t.

Enjoy the season guys.
Seriously BB!

I can understand, I'm more into SC butI know you've been round these woods for some time and just surprises me that your out.

I think a lot of the old crew may be missing from DT this year, at least it'll give me some trade relief for SC.

All the best which ever way you go.

Too hard for you? o_O
I'd say due to it being a different game then what many of us fell in love with. Why they keep making changes to something that isn't broken I don't know (well I do, they just want more activity on their site). I'll still be a DT man over SC just because I like the scoring system more but the rules in which SC will be played in this year are far better imo. 2 trades a week will be interesting but it basically removes the reward of being patient and striking at the right time. Will be interesting to see which way sportsbet goes.

Would be great if they released a 'classic DT' or redid DT pro or whatever it's called and bring it back to the old game of 20 trades (or maybe even less) with a lowered magic number so the real DT nuts can go at it. I'd be willing to pay $10 or however much they charge assuming they had a prize pool dependent on the amount of entries they had. One day hopefully....

I'm a trading maniac, but this is a horrible rule. When to trade was the biggest skill in the game, but now you just have to time when to trade in premos who have easy games coming up.

Probably wont be hanging on to any injured premiums in 2013. Judicious sideways trading to generate the most spondoola while keeping the scoreboard ticking over will be the modus operandi.

banana_bus is one of the most repected posters and best DT players this forum has. If you're around long enough you might learn something.

I know this, which is why it's very surprising that he of all people would take his bat and ball to SC because of a couple of rule changes he doesn't like. It's not like SC doesn't have some silly rules either. Last year I had Pendles in SC and he was subbed out before half time on 59 SC points, yet kept scoring while wearing a red vest. FFS he finished on 110 SC how the * is that even possible?

DT>>>SC especially with the new rule changes. Rolling lockout for SC is a terrible IMHO, but I will still play it. Won't enjoy it as much as DT but I'm not going to crack the shits and not play at all because I don't like the new rolling lockout rule or bizarre scoring system.

A top notch starting side will not get adequately rewarded.

Not a fan.

They will in the long run. While others are using up their 2 weekly trades fixing up their poor initial selections and terrible sideways trades, you are upgrading/downgrading rookies that you got right in the first place when they are ready to be moved on. Therefore you will have a complete team before those using up their 2 trades a week sideways trading. There will be plenty of people who have used 24 trades by rd 14 who still have half a dozen rookies on the ground due to s**t initial choices and poorly thought out sideways trades, cashing in cows too early and not generating enough cash to make worthwhile upgrades etc. Just because we can trade 44 times, doesn't mean we should or that mass trading will result in a stronger team/higher finish.

I see what you're saying, and agree to some extent. Plenty of people will use them wastefully.

Still, any DT'er with half a clue are in with a chance now.
