Heppell a future captain/younger than Sel.
Dusty has been Richmond best player the last two seasons as Sel has been for us with Dustys age helping him there. Also like how he 20 and 3's a lot something both Hepell and Selwood don't do.

Dusty does a better job of tearing a game open but doesn't do it reliably or consistently enough. Heppell impacts the game reliably and consistently but, to date, doesn't have a huge number of games in which he has put together truly match-winning performances. I would take Heppell of the two, probably because he has that good quality leadership skillset to go on top of his on-field efforts, but both are just coming into the prime of their careers now which leaves plenty of room for that to change.

Heppell has proven this year he can produce a high level at a consistent level. Martin....yet to show that.

Exactly, I'm just saying Heppell is playing at a more consistent level at the moment.
On that basis I would take Him.

This a genuinely good poll.

Heppell is more consistent with some tricks but not as many.

IMO Martin has the highest ceiling of any player in the AFL. (Yes, higher than Buddy because he can't mark above head/go in the middle.)

Martin for me, but it is close. Those saying either by 'miles' are not being objective.

This is similar to the Rockliff vs Hill poll where I'd have Heppell/Rockliff ahead on performance but Martin/Hill have more game breaking ability and are a rarer type of player.

Overall I'd go Heppell as he's shown he can carry a midfield whereas Martin 2nd/3rd banana behind Cotchin/Deledio and Heppell is 'miles' better as a leader and professionalism

Heppell quite clearly is a better player at this point... and a year younger, with a BnF and All-Australian selection under his belt. He's on another level to Martin. He basically went past a Brownlow Medal winner in terms of importance and consistency to a finals-quality team this season... plus, the future captaincy role and the fact he didn't try to walk out on his team would have a bit to do with who I'd pick.

It's quite obvious who is the better player.

Martin has rarer attributes but Heppell is just more consistent. That's not a slight on Martin either, Heppell is just one of those players like Mitchell that never really plays a bad game. Heppell is a better accumulator than Martin and definitely has better endurance whereas Martin has better strength and speed. Both are pretty good in the air, although Martin does it more forward of centre. Heppell is obviously a miles better leader and is practically a certainty to be our next captain. Both are great players but as a package (that includes off-field) i prefer Heppell.

I think martins lack of consistency is being a bit overplayed. Had a great year and is easily richmonds best player.

Heppell does appear to be more professional
