I don't know if you can call the standard 'Red Hot', when the side that finished first beat the second side in the 2 finals they met, by an average of 72pts. Then you have the second side coming from 11 goals down in the Prelim, good for spectators - yes, don't know about the competition standard as a whole though Macca. Don't get me wrong, I think that what guys like Hille and Allison did by injecting a lot of their own cash into their respective clubs is fantastic, but not for the competition as a whole. I don't know how to control it, but I know some clubs will struggle to survive trying to compete.

I retract the RED HOT comment but you'd have to admit it has improved out of sight. It may not be as even as previous years but certainly there is a higher quality of football being played.
I don't have the answer to making sides like Strathmore come back to the back and i really don't think a points system would work.
The league should work harder on getting councils to build fences around grounds so admission can be charged. I reckon that in itself would even the comp up as clubs would have more money to use up.
At the moment the bottom four or five sides in each comp are probably at their wits end trying to come up with an extra $20K to buy some players and probably think what's the point if Strathmore continue to go on a rampage. However, if you had an additional $20K (conservative) from gate receipts (400 x $6 x 9games) that'd make it more interesting.
You'll probably say that then Strathmore will go and spend an extra $20K, tend to agree but i support the fact that they're more likely not to as you can only spend so much on recruits - you can spend $20K on one player but not $100K on 10 players or else eventually you'd have an absolute exodus.
You can't have a club full of all new recruits and if you did you'd fail to succeed in my opinion anyway.

By Hillie taking his and other peolpes money to Stratmore he has made all the clubs in the EDFL go up a level in B and A grade and lifted the standard just like Northcote Park did for the DVFL in the early 00's and late 90's, if these people dont the standard stays the same or declines and no wants that

NOBS and St Pats College Ballarat have already merged, and i was told that they would be playing there home games at the school in Ballarat from next year(by a current NOBS player), leaving Alec Gillon Oval free for Strathmore to use. If this is dribble so be it, but it had me going!
