Their 2s would have to improve. Or some of those lads have left. The simple Math equation is not all of them fit in the side (even with points reductions of previous players). So whilst their list has improved, we will never see their best team on the park.

The signing of McKenzie is smart on many counts. DP would have avoided top $ through his connections, plus leveraging him as a forwards coach means half his weekly payments will be outside the cap. I’m not a DP supporter but this appears to be a good bit of business.

That in not correct. Only head coaches can have half their player payments outside the cap. Assistant playing coaches don't, their whole payment goes towards the cap.

Yea you’re correct and it’s only 1 “coach” that can get 50% of the coaching part outside the cap, but they might use Trent as that “coach” who is nominated.

And why a bigger punishment than keilor. Keilor won a premiership on the back of heavy recruiting and payments. No club cares now as they get a slap on the wrist.

Deer Park are coming hard. Good for the competition to see new clubs up there….They are pretty loyal and smart business club by the sounds.

I wouldn’t have them in my top 5 at this stage, I don’t think the recruits being that much improvement. Smart will kick goals but go missing against the big teams, Quick been a champion but he looked pretty slow and very gettable last season. They will have points issues and lack too much depth to push the top sides for me. Maybe fighting for the last spot along with Greenvale and Airport West.

It's not as though McKenzie to Deer Park was a secret either so im not sure why it's cause to reassess.
They should be stronger but so too will the sides they finished a fair way behind..

Doesn’t that mean he would be back to 3? He isn’t a DP junior or played 40 games otherwise he would have been a 1 pointer back in 2023.

Smart played 21, 22 and 23 with DP. He returns to DP as a 4, but you subtract 1 point for each year of previous service, making him a 1-pointer. Pretty simple and clear that being a handy 1 pointer player!

The salary cap cup should be an interesting game tomorrow. Both teams near full strength I believe. Heidelberg maybe the biggest spending club going around. Obviously do it a bit smarter than Keilor.
