As long as the players listed rocked up and at least sat on the bench in a kit then there is actually nothing wrong with what the clubs are doing qualifying through the thirds

Keilor had a free pass with Greenvale forfeiting because they can name as many as they wanted and they didn’t need to rock up and not have to play short
Hopefully the league change the rules to be any VFL listed player must return to local club and only 4 senior games gets them qualified for senior finals. You play 4 thirds games you only qualify for thirds finals. 4 reserves games gets you qualified for reserves only.

With regards to non VFL then you must play either reserves or seniors to qualify. Thirds footy should in NO way be counted as senior qualification. Full stop easily fixed.

And this is where it’s so wrong
Ita pretty easy when they get no real sanctions for this year. All other clubs should be livid with what's happened, the league hasn't even properly updated the premiership they lost properly.

When after 2 rounds, your winning margin average is over 150 points, it's pretty evident the sanctions for cheating are pathetic and need review. All Keilor have done is get a better treasurer to hide the 20k they have got taken off

Let’s be honest, this comp has become a laughing stock. Same teams competing, same teams treading water.

Until the EDFL (and/or AFL Vic) scraps the salary cap and comes up with a formula for a staggered player points cap (sustained success/high ladder finishes = less player points), this comp will continue to be a laughing stock.

The fact Keilor were found guilty for 2023 and were able to recruit Josh Honey and Reuben William for 2024 makes an absolute mockery of the salary cap, and the league should be ashamed of the punishments handed down to Keilor.

Weak as p*ss.

Overheard Deer Park money men yesterday saying they out bid Hillside for the services of Connolly paying $1k a game in Tab vouchers. Good ordinary player at best. Surprised to see they still have room in their cap at this time of year though ?

Hang on all you Big footy lovers - let's just back track 8 years and remember WHY the THIRDS were introduced on a Saturday morning. This is well before any women's teams. Now there are 20+ teams playing on a Friday night only AND a Premier Division reserves match has NO Goal umpires on a Sat . I think the comp has a lot more serious problems and the quicker the NWMFL ( North West Metro Football league) is announced ( amalgamating WRFL & EDFL) with 5 divisions or so the better it will be for the community / volunteers / resources and competitive outcomes.
The staff at Head office Just don't get it - OR they are just taking advice from the same 4 clubs - Bring back Mark Turri he will sort them out............

Judging by the score’s Heidelberg and Keilor are on different levels than everyone else
sad but true both comps seem very predictable with the main interest in who they will meet.
was thinking how good an effort douttas put up this week but then saw the other scores.
unsure who can get near keilor when it matters come spetember.

There is no doubt the contribution to both the league & a club has been enormous.

Brad Teal & Woodards

This will be the 39th year that Brad Teal has been the major partner of the EDFLUA which makes it one of the longest partnerships in the state for any sporting organisation. The support Brad and his team have given to the association over the years has allowed the association to flourish in its current position today.

The Keilor Football Club is absolutely delighted to hear that Brad Teal, was a recipient of the OAM of Australia, in the recent Queen's Birthday honour list, last weekend.

Brad was awarded the medal for his outstanding service to sport and his community.

Brad Teal received life membership to the Keilor Football Club in 2003, for his outstanding contribution to the club as a club sponsor and supporter over many years.
This has since extended to the EDFL competition as a whole, and his contributions to the local community through Brad Teal Woodards, has been immense.

Join us in congratulating Brad, and in so, all of the Teal family which is very synonyms with our club, for this outstanding recognition.

Synonyms 🤣
Seriously though. That would be considered a conflict of interest in many other fields.
How, may you ask. We can’t punish Keilor harshly, as we may lose a major sponsor.
If it looks like a fishy & smells fishy….

For all the comments regarding how to even up competition ( especially Premier League ) There is only one way to do this. It is the points system. Every team should not be on 46 points.
If you win the flag, that team the next year should be 42 at a min and then if they win it again come into 38 points and if they win again, come into 32 points As an example Keilor win the flag last year and on Saturday play with 45 points out of 46. This is ridiculous! If they do not make top 2, they can gain an extra point back each year
Then on the flip side the team coming from B Grade should get at least 50 points. and the second bottom gets 2 points extra and be 48. The runner up in GF should lose 2 points for the following year and play on 44.
We all know Keilor and a few other clubs here are cheating the salary cap, but if the points system was something like the above, that is the only way you can even up this competition, and not make it a joke of a competition between 2 or maybe 3 clubs
Along with capping how many junior sides these powerful clubs have, and also be stricter with having some sort of points system when juniors are swapping from under 14s and up to 18s, so these clubs can't poach the good kids, plus do zones where children live also.
Until the league grow some balls and have someone in charge who is not going to be influenced by the powerful clubs this Premier League will be a joke and uneven!

Also For the league to not strip Keilor of at least 4 points for cheating is an absolute joke, plus they should have had say -8 premiership points on top of this to start the season !
Keilor Abers and Strathmore have huge junior programs… All clubs should be on 36 Points… up the Calder Gisborne have a similar sized Junior program and play finals almost every year in the Bendigo League … maximum points in any one game will hardly ever by more than 36. They were getting around at about 24-28 points for a while.

This would give the players who like switching clubs less choice and make them more likely to choose to play at other clubs and help up the competition.

Happens with sporting competitions everywhere. Deer Park club sponsors the VTCA the competition where DP cricket club were premiers last year
