Interesting artical in the Sunday Times this week about the AFL draft camp and how impressive this 202cm ruckman/forward has been. Said he recorded one of the quickest times in the sprints for a kid his size and is compared to a Dean Cox! (the Times writer was maybe getting a little bit to excited)

He Played six games for East Perth this year in the seniors and player manager Liam Pickering said he is comfortable playing with the big boys and should be rated equal No1 draft pick with Gibbs!

The question is people: Will Carlton pass on Bryce Gibbs for their first pick and go for Leuenberger (if they don't get a ruckman in trade week) and leave Essendon in the fantastic situation of having Gibbs,Gumbleton,Selwood and Hanson to choose from as our 1st round pick? Which means we might end up getting Gibbs after all!
........OR they take Gibbs and we get first pick on Leuenberger and everyone else. Either way we are gunna finally get some decent draft picks this year- its looking good don't ya's think?

P.S Not saying we need a ruckman, just letting folks know a bit of info about a possible top 5 draft pick.He is from the west so my fellow Bomber supporters back in Vic might not have heard much about this kid...just4the record!!REPEAT I KNOW WE DONT NEED ANOTHER BL.....Y RUCKMAN

We don't need another ruckman, we do need a CHB. We could do with another decent midfielder, but they are easier to get than a good KPP.
I'm in favour of getting Hansen over Gibbs by a whisker.

I'm still pretty confident of getting Gibbs at two.

Carlton will take Leuenberger. He would be the number one pick in just about any other draft ever, there wouldn't be any question. We just don't need him.

Hille, Laycock, Ryder, McKinnon and its looking like Cartledge could be retained and then there is Bradley....

We should be right for rucks!

Gibbs would be v. nice at 2.

Since when did Brad Ottens ever play CHB?

No I saw it and got a bit worried too ha

I wouldn't worry too much, hopefully he means Ottens circa 2001.

Hansen would be a good get, if Gibbs is gone I'd be wanting Hansen.
He's a great athlete as well as footballer, runs midfielder type numbers in the endurance testing.

This info is 2 years old, from when he was selected in the AIS/AFL Academy squad. Over 90kg now and a couple of centimetres taller. Models his game on Chad Cornes now. Can play anywhere.

Essendon picked up Ryder with there first pick even though did not desperatly need another ruckman at the time. If they take Hansen it will not be because they need a CHB it will be because they think he is the best player available with that pick.

Assuming Gibbs is taken by Carlton, my opinion is that Hansen would the next best get for us. Good KPPs are hard to come by, especially ones that are very athletic as I've heard Hansen is. He is highly rated and would fill a huge hole in our team structure for the next decade!
However if Gibbs is still available, which I don't think he will be, he would be too good to pass up.

None of us actually know who anyone will pick,it's pure speculation.
My guess is Carlton take Gibbs, then i hope we take Gumbleton.

Please don't take Luenberger, as even though he is an exceptional talen, we don't need another ruckman.

GET THORNTON

Just because Leuenberger is listed as a ruckman,it dosnt mean he is gunna be picked by an AFL club as a ruckman. We could pick him and put him up forward or down the back. Every one seems to think we have too many tall players.the more the better i think.
Who knows what Johns,Lee,Kepler and Laycock are going to do next year
They could all end up out of form or injured and then we would be stuffed in the big man department.

But if Carlton pass on Gibbs we should pounce and get him.Its all speculation anyway and nobody knows whats gunna happen. But its great to see our club in such a good situation where we get the chance to pick up quality players.:)

If you were going to draft him with the intent of using him forward or back, why not just draft Hansen or Gumbleton?

Good point. I'm just glad to end up in the position where we have the choice of all these good young players!

I wouldn't say I'm glad. I'd rather have West Coast's draft picks ;)

But yes, if you are going to finish 15th, it probably isn't the worst year for it.

I don't think so Tim and we'd jump at these players if they were available.

Hughes is a wrap for the Berger but IMHO he appeared to have a huge boner for Gibbs on KB's show a week ago.
