I seem to recall that Egan had some pins removed from his foot mid-June and was going to spend 4 weeks on crutches before he was back to walking normally. Has there been any update? Thinking there's a chance he might be at a point soon where they'll know how likely a comeback for next year might be.

Given our aging back line, it would make a difference to our planning.

I have it on good authority that he had to have further surgery and will not be back at all.

I highly doubt, sad as it is that Egan will ever return to playing football.

If any of you had ever taken an extended period of time off any sort of football, you'd finally accept that Egan will not play again. It is hard enough returning to a lower league, let alone taking as much time off as he has and returning to the AFL.

I remember reading a long time ago that the plan was to go very slow. That running would not come until December or very late in the year at least.

I was at Skilled yesterday for the Cats v Crows game and he went in to the changerooms after the VFL side - I commented to the people that sit next to me that I was surprised that he was still on crutches as I thought he had had the pins removed a couple of months ago. It doesn't bode well and that's a shame because I thought he would be our leader in the backline once Scarlo, Harls and Milburn retired.

Egan apparently had to have more surgery that is why he is still on crutches.

Unfortunately, I fear he will go down to become one of those interesting trivia questions, "Name a player who never played an AFL game as an All Australian even though he was one?"

Why was his ankle injury so bad?

Not ankle...navicular bone at the top of the foot, I believe. Nearly destroyed James Hird's career, too. Just a nasty thing to fix. I think it has something to do with weight on it and blood supply.

their has to be some questions asked about our player management.

egan had a simple ankle injuiry and hes never going to play again.
nathan ablett just walking out on the club.
trading king for nothing to the side whos our main competitior for the flag this year.
letting prismal go for nothing, when we have blokes like stokes, tennace and byrnes getting games.
plus the ottens situation this year.

egan had a simple ankle injuiry and hes never going to play again. It was a foot. And I bet we can blame them for Snell's injury too huh? Maybe shouldn't have rushed him for finals though
nathan ablett just walking out on the club. Getting him to the club was a miracle effort in itself.
trading king for nothing to the side whos our main competitior for the flag this year. That was a massive screw-up.
letting prismal go for nothing, when we have blokes like stokes, tennace and byrnes getting games. Prismall wanted out NO MATTER WHAT, forcing our hand & getting nothing in return.
plus the ottens situation this year. Going by Bomber's comments, I think that has more to do with Otto than the team
Serious?

With the exception of egan late in the season, we had a great run with injury in 07, and a reasonable run in 08. we have had a shocker this year, yet still managed to go 16/2.

I think we have fricken amazing player management....the best recruiting team, and a great leadership.

prismall wanted out, and we couldn't strike a deal. He put us in that position by deciding to leave, so essendon didn't need to bargain for him. The King thing i didn't agree with, but was a gamble. Alot of people thought he wouldn't get through another season, and he has managed to play the majority of two, so we lucked out there. We let him go for nothing because no one offered anything, and we wanted him and Charlie to have a chance to continue their careers.

Egan's foot can hardly be blamed on player management. we haven't played him since his injury to agravate it...... ???

Otten's is in his last or second last season you would think, in a similar position really to where king was 2 years ago, hit with injury and unable to contribute. But who knows, maybe like king he will pull it all together for the finals and go forward and contribute well for antoher 2 years....

in other words, ease up sunshine. :o

Are you the mole?

I did say questions need to be asked, as from the outside some things dont go down to well IMO.

egan was suppose to be a chance to play in the GF but hes not going to ever play again.Ottens was 2-3 weaks and he may end up missing a season.

trading king for nothing to a side thats competing for a flag with us is a joke , he should of been delisted and sent to a side like richmond.
