You are never going to get high profile or millionaire\high profile business people standing because they are appointed by the WAFC and they wouldnt be elected by the members so people like Docker Dave probably has it cornered with his "Freo MOB" supporter base. Kate and Bruce have a very tough task ahead of them which is disappointing because they are very good candidates.

As with the 2006 election, I am happy to answer any questions you may have to help you make an informed decision about who you would like on the board for the next two years. I'm an infrequent poster here but I do follow what is going on from so I have a reasonable idea about what issues are important to members and supporters but if there is anything in particular you wish to know I am happy to answer here or you can PM me.

In previous years, voter turnout has been very low. However with an online vote this year (a very easy one, might I add) I would expect numbers to be higher. Voting is open to all eligible 2008 members and can be done here:

Ben Allen being the member elect was a disgrace. Noone was ever going to beat him as a former club captain, and yet he was basically "one of the boys" who just toed the line.

You would expect alot more votes cast this year if you can do it online though.

You could look at it like that Belnakor. Another way is that Ben Allen has purple blood and is in there to try and help guide the club in the right direction. I think he genuinely wants success for Fremantle.

he could have done it through the regular channels, and been appointed internally, or been involved in at the club in different ways.

If all his options had been exhausted and he didn't agree with management on some issues etc, then fine, go on the board. But he was basically approached by the club and asked to run.

Given this is something that a lot of Freo members fought for and it's one of the very few avenues we have to have some kind of say/input into our club it would be encouraging to see the numbers voting go up this year (although, given the mess WA is currently in, maybe it would be safer if most of us don't vote )

How do you know that? There have been plenty of changes for the better over the last couple of years, for all we know many of those changes could have been orchestrated by Allan.

lol - as i mentioned before, its because Carousel somehow keep getting permits to build more stores, yet they never get any more parking. I went there on a wednesday and couldn't get a park!

That's funny. I've been involved in the Centre for nine years and I can't recall "adding" any more retail space in that period of time.

There's a fantastic article in Today's West (on the inside back cover no less) by Craig O'Donoghue about Docker Dave complaining about dockerland bagging him in the hope that Kate or Bruce will get elected.

Who is Dave Rawlinson, he's quoted as a former board member supporting Garic. Was Rawlinson a member elected member with MOB ties?

Just what we need, a pair of tossers like Dave Garic and Shane Richmond getting their names in the paper. Well done for tackling the big issues O'Donoghue.
